Sika MonoTop-109 WaterProofing is a one-component, cement -based, ready-to-mix waterproofing mortar with a brush-applicable consistency.

Areas of application

Sika MonoTop-109 WaterProofing is specially designed for manageable-sized waterproofing projects, such as cellar walls, small ponds or water tanks and underground structures.

Application

1. Sika MonoTop-109 WaterProofing is applied using a stiff bristle brush, glue brush, squeegee, spatula or trowel, in 2 to 3 coats.
2. To achieve good penetration and adhesion to the surface, the first coat should be applied with a brush.
3. Subsequent coats can be applied (in a crisscross pattern) with a brush, spatula, or trowel, as soon as the previous coat has sufficiently hardened (approximately 4 to 6 hours, maximum 12 hours). The total thickness must never exceed 4 mm.

1. Is Sika MonoTop-109 really waterproof?
   Yes, it provides effective waterproofing against pressurized water, both in positive pressure (water pushing against the wall) and in negative pressure.
2. Can it be applied to a wall that is already damp?
   Yes, the surface must be moistened, but without standing water. It should not be applied to a dripping wet surface.
3. Is it compatible with tiling over it?
   Yes, after it has fully hardened, it can be used as a base before tiling, with a suitable adhesive.
4. Can it be used outdoors?
   Absolutely, it is designed for indoor and outdoor use, including on buried walls.
5. Is this a flexible product?
   No, Sika MonoTop-109 is a rigid mortar. For cracked substrates or substrates subject to movement, a flexible system is recommended.
6. Is it suitable for drinking water?
   No, this product is not certified for contact with drinking water.
7. How many coats should be applied?
   A minimum of two coats, applied in cross-passes, are required to guarantee waterproofing.
