Sika Monotop-1010 - Corrosion protection mortar - Sika

Sika MonoTop-1010 is a single-component, cement -based, polymer-modified coating used as an adhesion layer on concrete and as a protective coating against corrosion of reinforcement.
It contains recycled materials, which reduces the carbon footprint compared to a mortar of equivalent performance.

Application

1. Mix using a low-speed electric mixer (< 500 rpm) with a single or double agitator rod, or by hand for small quantities.
2. Pour the recommended amount of water into a suitable mixing container.
3. While stirring slowly, add the powder to the water and mix thoroughly for at least 3 minutes.

Adhesion layer (if necessary)

1. Deeply pre-wet the prepared substrate (2 hours before application is recommended).
2. Keep the surface moist and do not allow it to dry out.
3. Before application, remove excess water, for example with a clean sponge.
4. The surface should have a dark matte appearance without shine and the pores and cavities of the surface should not contain water.
5. Use a clean brush, paint roller or suitable spray equipment to coat the substrate with a thin layer of Sika MonoTop-1010 and ensure that all irregularities, pores and cavities are filled.

Reinforcement corrosion protection coating

1. Using a clean and suitable brush or spray equipment, apply a first coat to cover the steel reinforcements to a thickness of approximately 1 mm.
2. When the first layer is hard by touching it to the nail, apply a second layer about 1 mm thick.
3. When applying by spraying, protect the concrete substrate from the spray mist.
4. Wait until the product is completely dry before applying the repair mortar.

Consumption

Adhesion layer: ~1.5–2.0 kg/m² powder for 1 mm thickness.
Depends on the roughness of the support and the thickness of the applied layer.

Anti-corrosion protection of reinforcement: ~2.0 kg/m² of powder for 1 mm of thickness.
Consumption depends on the roughness and absorbency of the support. This figure is theoretical and does not take into account any additional material due to surface porosity, surface profile, level variations or wastage etc.

Yield: ~14.3 l per 25 kg of powder.
