Specially developed for grouting fully vitrified tiles , glass ceramics and natural stones sensitive to discolouration.

SikaCeram-690 Elite has greater color uniformity, very good color consistency, very good adhesion to tile sides and increased abrasion resistance.
For both indoor and outdoor use.

Features

  • Joint thickness: 1 to 10 mm.
  • Application on floors and walls.
  • Available in several colors.
  • Water repellent.
  • Low shrinkage.
  • Abrasion resistant.
  • Frost resistant.
  • Smooth finish achievable.
  • Color consistency.
  • Good durability.
  • Stain resistant and easy to clean.

Application areas

Grouting the following types of tiles:

  • Artificial stone tiles.
  • Fully vitrified tiles.
  • Glass tiles.
  • Glazed ceramic tiles.
  • Marble and other natural stones susceptible to discoloration.
  • Mosaic tiles.
  • Porcelain stoneware tiles.

Grouting for the following applications:

  • Balconies.
  • Bathrooms.
  • Business environments.
  • Facades.
  • Heated floors (water and electric systems).
  • Terraces.

Application

  1. Apply SikaCeram-690 Elite using a spatula, squeegee or joint trowel/trowel.
  2. Completely fill the joints and compact the jointing mortar evenly.
  3. If necessary, finish the mortar using a special joint finishing tool while the mortar is still wet.
  4. Using the same joint trowel/trowel, remove excess mortar from the tile surfaces by moving the tool diagonally across the joints.
  5. When the mortar is dry to the touch (15 to 45 minutes depending on the absorption capacity of the tiles), then clean the tiles using a damp sponge or a trowel coated with a sponge to clean the surfaces of the tiles.
Clean the sponge regularly with clear water.
  6. When the mortar has sufficiently hardened in the joint (fingernail test). Polish tile surfaces by wiping with a dry, soft, clean cloth.

Consumption

Consumption depends on the size of the tiles, the width and depth of the joints. Usage guide: g/m²

Tiles / cm Joint width / mm
C×D×B 2 4 6 8 10
5×5×0.4 440 / / / /
10×10×0.6 340 660 960 1250 1520

30×60×1 140 290 430 570 700
50×50×1.2 140 280 410 550 680

These figures are theoretical and do not take into account any additional material due to surface porosity, surface profile, level variations, waste/loss or any other variation.
Apply product to a test area to calculate exact consumption based on specific substrate conditions and proposed application equipment.

Consumption can also be calculated using the following formula:

Consumption (g/m²) = A × B × [(C + D+A)/((C+A) × (D+A))] × 14.61

A = joint width (cm); B = Tile thickness (cm); C = Tile length (cm); D = tile width (cm)
