SikaCeram-250 StarFix is a deformable tile adhesive mortar .
The product can be applied in layers up to 5 mm thick.

SikaCeram-250 StarFix is suitable for bonding all types of ceramic tiles on walls and floors, indoors and outdoors , for residential and industrial surfaces, for heated floors , balconies and terraces.

Areas of application

SikaCeram-250 StarFix is suitable for bonding the following types of tiles:

• Ceramic tiles
• Sandstone slabs
• Coarse ceramics
• Marble and other natural stones not susceptible to discoloration

SikaCeram-250 StarFix can be used on walls and floors indoors and outdoors, including on:

• Underfloor heating (hydraulic and electric systems)
• Terraces
• Balconies
• Old, sound ceramic tiles
• Plasterboard

Application

1. SikaCeram-250 StarFix is applied using a notched trowel.
2. The quantity of product must be sufficient to completely coat the back face of the tiles.
3. The tiles must be laid on freshly applied adhesive, applying adequate pressure to ensure complete and uniform contact with the adhesive for optimal adhesion.
4. If a film forms on the surface of the adhesive, the layer of adhesive should be removed immediately with a trowel, this material discarded, and then a new layer of SikaCeram-250 StarFix adhesive should be applied.
5. Avoid application in direct sunlight and/or in strong winds / drafts.
6. SikaCeram-250 StarFix is suitable for laying absorbent and non-absorbent tiles indoors, without any limitations on dimensions or substrate.
7. SikaCeram-250 StarFix is ideal for laying non-absorbent tiles outdoors, up to 10000 cm2 (e.g. 60 x 120 cm) on the floor, and up to 7000 cm2 (e.g. 80 x 80 cm) on walls, on unheated cement-based substrates.
8. For laying tiles larger than 900 cm² (e.g. 30 x 30 cm), it is always recommended to apply the double-sided (buttering) bonding technique.

Consumption

Consumption is a function of the surface profile and roughness of the substrate, the size of the tiles and the installation technique (gluing on one side or double-sided).
As a guide, in kilograms of powder per m²:

• Small tiles/6 mm notched trowel ~ 2.1 kg/m²
• Standard tiles/8 mm notched trowel ~ 2.6 kg/m²
• Large tiles/10 mm notched trowel ~ 3.1 kg/m²

4. How much water is needed for the mixture?
   Generally, 5 to 6 liters of water per 25 kg, depending on the desired consistency. (Always check the technical data sheet.)
5. Can it be installed over existing tiles?
   Yes, provided that the old coating is solid, clean and not cracked.
6. What is the open time of the product?
   The product has an extended open time, offering greater flexibility during application.
7. Is the adhesive mortar deformable?
   Yes, classified S1, it absorbs the movements of the support.
8. Is it suitable for humid environments?
   Yes, kitchens, bathrooms, showers, rooms with high humidity.
9. Is it possible to tile a wall with it?
   Yes, its reduced slippage makes wall mounting easier.
