Super Sikalite is a powder additive for waterproofing concrete, cement mortars or bastard mortars.

Features

Super Sikalite provides the following to concrete and mortar:

• Excellent waterproofing achieved through chemical transformation and fixation of their soluble components.
• Improved creaminess that facilitates application and promotes compactness
• Longer working time: no bleeding (no need to re-beat), no curing delay
• Reduces shrinkage by reducing mixing water
• Improves the frost resistance of hardened mortars

Areas of application

• Waterproofing of walls and facades: comply with the requirements of DTU 26.1.
• Screeds and forms of waterproofing protection for flat roofs.
• For swimming pools and reservoirs, waterproofing is easily achieved by applying several coats of Super Sikalite mortar, 2 to 3 cm thick, onto roughened concrete.
  The dosage will be 1 part cement to 2 parts sand and the finishing layer will be troweled and not smoothed to avoid crazing.
• Construction of waterproof screeds (in accordance with the requirements of DTU 52).
  The waterproofing of the screed will be achieved by incorporating Super Sikalite into the mortar dosed in cement as described for swimming pools and reservoirs.
• Construction of damp-proof courses, capillary breaks (refer to the requirements of DTU 20.1).

Application

1. The implementation will comply with the requirements of DTU 52.
   Protection against desiccation must be implemented to prevent crazing and cracking.
2. Super Sikalite is added to the cement mixer at the same time as the cement.

Consumption

1 kg sachet for 1 x 35 kg bag of cement or 1 kg sachet for 2 x 25 kg bags of cement

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does Super Sikalite make the wall completely waterproof?
   No, it makes the mortar water-repellent, but it doesn't replace proper professional waterproofing. For a completely watertight wall, combine it with a complementary Sika waterproofing membrane or system.
2. Can it be used with any type of cement?
   Yes, it is compatible with all common cements.
3. Can I use Super Sikalite in concrete?
   No, it's designed for mortars. For concrete, use other specific Sika water-repellent additives.
4. Does the product change the color of the mortar?
   Very little. The mortar may appear slightly more compact, but the final color remains similar.
5. Is it dangerous to health?
   It is a mineral powder. As with all cementitious products, inhalation should be avoided and gloves should be worn.
6. What is the drying time for mortar with Sikalite?
   The setting time remains almost identical to that of a classic mortar.
7. Can Super Sikalite be used in permanent contact with water?
   Yes, for tanking mortars or wet areas, but it is not a structural waterproofing system.
8. Does Super Sikalite prevent cracking?
   It improves the compactness of the mortar, which reduces the risk of micro-cracks, but does not prevent them completely.
9. Can you paint on mortar containing Sikalite?
   Yes, once it's dry.
