SikaCeram-204 Medium is an improved cement -based adhesive mortar for bonding medium-sized ceramic tiles .

It can be applied in layer thicknesses up to 10 mm and is suitable for floors and walls in residential environments, both indoors and outdoors.
Class C2TE according to EN 12004.
EC 1 PLUS label: very low VOC emissions .

Areas of application

SikaCeram-204 Medium is suitable for bonding the following types of tiles:

• All types of medium-sized ceramic tiles
• Terracotta tiles

SikaCeram-204 Medium can be applied indoors and outdoors, on the following substrates:

• Plaster or cement-based substrates
• Existing ceramic tiles inside, treated with SikaFloor-01 Primer or SikaFloor-02 Primer
• Indoor underfloor heating

Application

1. SikaCeram-204 Medium is applied using a notched trowel.
2. The amount of product must be sufficient to completely "moisten" the back face of the tiles.
3. Place the tiles in the fresh adhesive, applying adequate pressure to ensure complete and uniform contact with the adhesive and therefore perfect adhesion.
4. If a film forms on the surface of the glue, the layer of glue should be removed with a trowel and then a new layer of glue should be applied.
5. Do not reuse the discarded adhesive. Avoid application in direct sunlight and/or in strong winds/drafts.
6. SikaCeram-204 Medium is designed specifically for laying non-absorbent tiles up to 3600 cm² (e.g. 60 x 60 cm) indoors, and up to 1600 cm² (e.g. 40 x 40 cm) for outdoor tiles.
7. For laying tiles larger than 900 cm² (e.g. 30 x 30 cm), it is always mandatory to apply the double-sided bonding technique (buttering and floating).

Consumption

Consumption always depends on the profile and roughness of the substrate, as well as the installation technique (simple gluing by applying a layer to the surface, or double-sided gluing with an additional layer on the back side of the tiles).

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can SikaCeram-204 Medium be used for large formats?
   It is suitable for medium-sized formats and can be used for larger tiles only with double-bonding. For very large formats (60×60, 80×80, 120×60), a high-performance C2 S1 adhesive is recommended.
2. Can this glue be used on old tiles?
   Yes, if the old tiles are sound and well bonded, the surface is mechanically roughened, and an adhesion primer is applied (e.g., Sika Primer).
3. Is it suitable for underfloor heating?
   Yes, suitable for hot water underfloor heating. Not recommended for very fast-acting electric underfloor heating. A more flexible adhesive is recommended.
4. Is it suitable for outdoor use?
   Yes, the adhesive is resistant to frost, temperature variations, and weathering. It is perfectly suited for terraces, balconies, and facades.
5. How long does it take to adjust the tiles?
   Approximately 20 minutes depending on temperature and ventilation.
6. What is the maximum thickness that can be applied?
   Up to 10 mm in medium bed.
7. Can natural stone be glued?
   Yes, but only for stones that are stable in moisture. For sensitive stones (white marble, limestone), use a suitable adhesive.
8. Is the glue ready when it comes out of the bag?
   No, it is a powdered mortar-adhesive, to be mixed with water (no additives to add).
9. Can it be used for mosaics?
   Yes, on suitable substrates and with single or double gluing depending on the formats.
10. How long should I wait before applying the sealant?
    Walls, 8 to 12 hours, floors, 24 hours.
