Sika MonoTop-108 Water Plug is a fast-setting cementitious mortar for sealing/stopping water leaks in concrete and masonry walls .

Features

  • Fast setting to avoid washing, even in the presence of running water
  • Cures in ~60-80 seconds (at 20°C)

Scope of application

  • Instant sealing of negative pressure water inlets through cracks, gravel nests and construction joints
  • Instant sealing of the cavity created by the rubber tube which is used to reduce pressure during waterproofing treatments.

Application

  1. Quickly mix the mortar and water by hand in sufficient quantity to produce a plug to be applied in a few seconds.
  2. Protect hands with rubber gloves.
  3. Setting time will vary by varying the amount of water.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can it be used underwater or in the presence of running water?
Yes. The mortar is formulated to resist washout, and it can be applied even if water is present in the leak area.
  2. What is the exact setting time?
At +20°C, the start of setting occurs in ~60 seconds, and the final setting in ~80 seconds. These times vary depending on the surface/air temperature.
  3. How long can I keep this product?
15 months from the date of manufacture, provided the original packaging is intact, sealed, and stored in a dry place.
  4. How much water should I use for 5 kg of powder?
Between 1.25 and 1.40 liters (i.e. a suitable water/powder ratio) for the standard version.
  5. Can it be used to fill or repair damaged concrete?
No. This product is only designed for sealing water leaks. For structural repairs or reshaping, use a repair mortar from the MonoTop or SikaTop range.
  6. What if I mix too much or too little water?
Too much water: Setting time will be slower, which may affect effectiveness in running water. Too little water: The mixture will be difficult to handle and may not apply correctly. In either case, adjust the water ratio to stay within the recommended range.
  7. How do I remove hardened mortar if there is excess or if I want to clean it after it has hardened?
Once hardened, the mortar cannot be dissolved: any removal can only be done mechanically (grinding, cutting, chiselling).
