Deks Olje D2 - High gloss oil varnish - Owatrol

Finish for exotic woods based on alkyd resins specially developed for marine use.

Properties :

• Resistant and flexible film which avoids the risk of blistering, cracking or peeling.
• Shiny and durable appearance.
• Fluid transparent varnish – does not mask the grain of the wood.
• Ensures long-lasting protection thanks to the presence of anti-UV agents. Easy maintenance by simply cleaning the surfaces regularly with fresh water.
• Very good resistance to dry and wet abrasion (especially salt water).
• Practical performance varies depending on the type of use, the surface condition, the absorption of the support as well as the method of application.
  10 to 12 m2/liter per layer (in theory).

Preparation of the support:

• The wood must be sanded before treatment with D1.
• The wood must be clean and perfectly dry during application.
• Do not apply D2 in humid weather or late in the afternoon.
• As the varnish can make the surface slippery, it is preferable, in the case of traffic areas, to use only D1.

Application :

1. Pre-treat the wood with D1 (see technical sheet) and leave to dry for 24 to 72 hours. The wood must be dry and not sticky before applying the first coat of D2.
2. Apply 4 to 6 coats of D2 depending on the exposure of the support.
3. Leave to dry for at least 12 hours between each coat (or at least 24 hours depending on the temperature and relative humidity of the air).
4. There is no need to sand between coats. However, to have an even more brilliant varnish, sand the penultimate layer with very fine abrasive paper (400) dipped in D1. Allow the surface to dry for 1 hour.
5. Apply the final coat of D2. To have a uniform surface, you can apply the last layer with a spalter.
6. Leave to dry for 1 week before putting into service.

NB: splashes or drips of varnish must be removed before the product dries. After drying, stains are very difficult to remove, so you must be very careful and remove these stains immediately after application.

Destinations:

• Outside.
• Exotic woods (Teak, Ipe, Mahogany, Movingui, etc.) new or old.
• Interior: paneling, doors, windows.
• Horizontal - vertical.
• On boats the D2 is used for all work above the waterline.

Conditioning :

1 L, 2.5 L and 20 L.
