FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
- Why use Seasonite on new wood?
Because new wood is very unstable, it absorbs too much or too little water, warps, cracks, or turns gray quickly. Seasonite stabilizes this critical period. - Can Seasonite be applied to wood that is already grey?
No, it's designed for new wood. If the wood has started to turn grey, you should first use a wood brightener. - Is the product truly colorless?
Yes, it does not change the appearance of the wood and does not add any tint. - Can a finishing coat be applied immediately after Seasonite?
No, Seasonite is a temporary treatment. The finish (oil, saturator, paint, etc.) must be applied 6 to 12 months later. - Is it compatible with pressure-treated wood?
Yes, absolutely. It's even recommended because pressure-treated wood is often very damp when installed. - Does Seasonite replace a saturator?
No, Seasonite prepares the wood in the first year. The saturator is then applied for long-lasting protection. - How can you tell if the wood is sufficiently stabilized to receive a finish?
Perform a water drop test. If the water soaks in instead of beading, the wood is ready for a saturator. - Can it be used indoors?
Unnecessary, the interior doesn't expose the wood to the elements. Seasonite is designed for outdoor use. - Does the product protect against UV rays?
It limits the effects of greying, but for lasting UV protection, a saturator will need to be applied after the stabilization period.
