Sika MultiSeal is a self-adhesive sealing strip , consisting of a rubber- modified bituminous layer that is covered with an aluminum film on the upper part.

Areas of application

Sika MultiSeal is suitable for sealing and repair applications against water ingress in roofs and any other building element.

Application

1. Cut the strip to the desired length and remove the protective film.
2. Stick the strip onto the support and press it firmly onto the support with a suitable roller.
3. All overlaps must be at least 5 cm.
4. The adhesion rate can be improved by heating the Sika MultiSeal tape during application.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can Sika MultiSeal be used underwater?
   No, the tape provides excellent waterproofing but should not be applied to a submerged surface. However, it can be used in areas frequently exposed to rain.
2. Can I apply the tape to a wet surface?
   The surface must be clean, dry and free of grease. Applying it to a damp surface will compromise adhesion.
3. Is it compatible with plastic or PVC supports?
   Yes, Sika MultiSeal adheres very well to PVC, polycarbonate, glass, metal, wood and concrete.
4. What is the setting time?
   The seal is immediate after application. However, maximum adhesion is reached after a few hours.
5. Is Sika MultiSeal UV resistant?
   Yes, its aluminum/lead coating ensures long-lasting resistance to UV rays and aging.
6. How long does the repair take?
   Under normal conditions, the repair can last for several years thanks to the stability of the bitumen and the mechanical resistance of the strip.
7. Can Sika MultiSeal be painted?
   This is not recommended. The aluminum/lead surface is designed to withstand the elements, not to be painted.
8. Is a primer necessary before application?
   Not for smooth surfaces (metal, glass). Yes for porous or uneven surfaces (concrete, plaster) to optimize adhesion.
9. Can the tape be used to seal a leaking gutter?
   Yes, that's one of its most common uses. The tape effectively repairs holes and cracks.
10. What are the advantages compared to a sealant?
    Faster installation, clean and immediate result. High weather resistance, no drying required.
