Description :

Seifert ready-to-use, Belgian-made , water-repellent jointing mortar with reduced dust emissions is composed of selected raw materials, dried and prepared in special kilns and carefully dosed according to the following composition:

• White quartz grains, tumbled and washed, 0.1 to 0.6 mm
• Finely ground natural stone
• Selected pulverized lime, with at least 95% calcium hydrate
• White cement
• Water-repellent products based on stearates
• Mineral dyes
• Packaging: 25 kg bag

Areas of application:

Seifert jointing mortar is perfectly suited for creating joints (all types of joints: smooth flat, brushed flat, etc.) in interior and exterior walls, in new construction and renovation. The walls can be made of solid bricks, facing bricks, concrete blocks, concrete bricks, and brick slips.

The jointing mortar is not used as a coating, nor for jointing floors, nor for walls made of materials other than those mentioned above (e.g. glass bricks, ...).

Preparation of the supports:

• The support must be stable, cohesive and solid.
• Remove all dust and mortar residue from the joints to obtain a sound surface.
• Minimum joint depth 10 mm, joint height between 8 and 12 mm .
• Wait at least 1 month after the masonry work on the wall before repointing.
• For porous surfaces and/or in hot weather (e.g. dry wind, ...) pre-moisten the bricks (to avoid the risk of the mortar drying out).
• Protect materials that are sensitive to stains (e.g., glass, windows, terraces, thresholds, etc.)

Implementation and application:

• Operating temperature: from +3°C to +27°C.
• Application time at +20°C: max. 2 hours (if thoroughly mixed). At lower temperatures: the product will take longer to bind and harden, resulting in a darker final mortar color. At higher temperatures and/or in windy conditions, the product will bind faster and harden more quickly, resulting in a lighter final mortar color.
• Do not apply to wet, frozen or thawing surfaces within 48 hours (to reduce the risk of efflorescence).
• Do not apply in direct sunlight or in case of (driving) rain without protecting the facade.
• Mix approximately 75% of your bag of jointing mortar with 3 to 3.75 liters of potable water (always use the same amount of water per bag to avoid color variations). While mixing, preferably mechanically for 3 minutes, add the remaining mortar until you achieve the desired homogeneous consistency. If mixing by hand, mix vigorously for at least 5 minutes.
• Apply the wet mortar and press firmly with a jointing tool to obtain a solid joint.
• Do not add (or re-add) sand or other additives under penalty of voiding the product warranty.
• Never mix a mortar that has already been mixed and is in the process of setting with fresh mortar.
• Do not mix or add more water once the mixture has started to set.
• To avoid color differences (due to different mortar drying times), always finish the section of the facade you are working on on the same day or under the same weather conditions.

After application:

• In hot weather and/or dry wind, moisten several times (the next day, etc.) and possibly protect the grouted surface to guarantee the quality and color of the mortar (the color is determined by the drying time).
• Protect the grouted surface for at least 1 week from rain and frost to minimize the risk of efflorescence.
• Protect the grouted surface for at least 1 week from wind and/or heat to ensure quality and color, and to prevent the mortar from burning.
• If there is a risk that the water from the mortar will be absorbed too quickly by the bricks or that the water will evaporate too quickly, it is advisable to dampen the surface.

• Dry density: 1900 kg/m³ (measured on 4/4/16 cm test specimens, obtained by compacting mortar mixed with a quantity of water according to the instructions for use above)
• Compressive strength after 28 days: >15 N/mm² (measured on the same test specimens)

   Slightly moistening the joint is sometimes recommended, but the surface should not be soaked.
