Sika Airmix - Liquid air entrainer - Sika

Sika AIR Mix has been designed and formulated to deliberately introduce air into the concrete in the form of evenly sized and evenly distributed microbubbles.

Features

Sika AIR Mix brings the following beneficial effects to concrete:

• Air entrainment dramatically reduces damage from freeze/thaw cycles.
• Improved durability of concrete exposed to tidal movements.
• Improves workability and reduces bleeding of mixes containing sands and coarse aggregates.
• Can be used to reduce mixing water without reducing workability and handling properties.
• Easier and faster mixing of concrete in agitator trucks.
• Concrete in transit and in place is more cohesive and separates less.
• The concrete is easier to place, which results in less vibration and less effort required to achieve good compaction.

Application areas

The use of Sika AIR Mix significantly improves the workability and durability of concrete.
Cohesion is also increased, which reduces the risk of segregation and bleeding.
It is recommended that consideration be given to the use of air-entraining admixtures for concrete in the following applications:

• Most forms of low to medium strength concrete
• Dams, reservoirs
• Airport runways and aircraft parking areas
• Roads, sidewalks, walkways, driveways
• Slabs and walls
• Most forms of structural concrete.

Application

1. Sika AIR Mix is added directly to the mixing water before adding the aggregates to the mix.
2. Do not add to cement or dry aggregate.
3. Regular tests of the entrained air content should be carried out using a hydrometer.
4. If necessary, it may be necessary to adjust the dosage to keep the entrained air content within the required limits.

Consumption

Typical dosage: 30 - 150 ml/m³ of concrete
(exact dosage rates are determined by air meter/concrete hydrometer testing on test mixes)
