Marine Oil - Colorless penetrating rust remover - Owatrol

Stops and stabilizes rust in depth and avoids any recovery.
Added to lacquers , varnish makes them rustproof .

Properties :

  • Penetrates:
    • Impregnates and penetrates the support to stabilize and protect it down to sound metal.
    • Neutralizes rust even in micro-cavities.
  • Insulates and protects:
    • Without any chemical action, isolates the support from air and humidity. Stops rust.
    • Forms a flexible protective film which becomes one with the support and makes it impermeable to air and humidity.
    • Avoid transplanting on areas oxidized by sea air and ambient humidity.
  • Adheres to all supports:
    • Reinforces the grip of the finish.
    • Applies directly to non-friable rust which it uses as a pigment. Avoid any prior sanding and sanding.
  • Adds:
    • Paints, varnishes, lacquers... with a fatty binder (alkyds / glycerophtalics) mono-component which makes them rust-proof and adhesive.
    • Facilitates their application (better brushability), improves their grip and limits their risk of flaking.
    • Decorate:
    • Allows to preserve the rusted aspect of the supports while protecting them.
  • The yield can vary according to several parameters: the state, the porosity of the support, the temperature and the relative hygrometry.
    18 m2 /L per coat.

Application :

Penetrating rust remover:

  1. Apply directly to the prepared support, rusty or not, 1 to 2 coats of pure Marine oil, at 24 hour intervals.
  2. Then leave to dry for at least 48 hours before covering with a finish (single-component solvent). Temperature 20°C and 50% RH.
  3. The ambient temperature and the relative air humidity influence the drying time.
  4. After drying, check that the surfaces are shiny and uniformly protected.

Additive for stain paints, lacquers, gylcero varnish:

  1. Carry out a preliminary compatibility test when mixed with a reduced volume of finish.
  2. As an undercoat, add about 25% of Marine oil to the primer or paint to make it rust-proof or 50% if application on a smooth surface that is difficult to cover.
  3. In finishing, do not exceed 5%. Then leave to dry according to the recommendations above.
  4. On a new support, without any trace of oxidation, it is preferable to use PID 60 Marine or Owatrol-CIP or Primer AP.60*.

Destination :

  • Can be applied to ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics (excluding polypropylene and polyethylene), glass, wood,... prepared oxidized or non-oxidized supports: mats, gelcoats, topsides, fittings, etc.

Conditioning :

0.5L and 1L.
