SikaCeram-690 Elite is a cement -based grouting mortar for tile joints from 1 mm to 10 mm wide, on floors and walls.
Specially developed for grouting fully vitrified tiles , glass-ceramics and natural stones sensitive to discoloration.

SikaCeram-690 Elite has greater color uniformity, very good color consistency, very good adhesion to the sides of the tiles and increased abrasion resistance.
For both indoor and outdoor use.

Application

1. Apply SikaCeram-690 Elite using a spatula, a squeegee or a jointing trowel/float.
2. Completely fill the joints and compact the jointing mortar evenly.
3. If necessary, finish the mortar using a special joint finishing tool while the mortar is still wet.
4. Using the same jointing trowel/float, remove excess mortar from the tile surfaces by moving the tool diagonally across the joints.
5. When the mortar is dry to the touch (15 to 45 minutes depending on the absorption capacity of the tiles), then clean the tiles using a damp sponge or a trowel covered with a sponge to clean the tiled surfaces.
   Clean the sponge regularly with clean water.
6. When the mortar has hardened sufficiently in the joint (fingernail test), polish the tile surfaces by wiping them with a clean, soft, dry cloth.

Consumption depends on tile size, joint width, and joint depth. Consumption guide: g/m²

These figures are theoretical and do not take into account any additional material due to surface porosity, surface profile, level variations, waste/losses or any other variation.
Apply the product to a test area to calculate the exact consumption based on the specific conditions of the substrate and the proposed application equipment.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does Sikafloor-316 yellow over time?
   The product is UV stabilized, significantly reducing yellowing. However, as with all transparent PU, a slight color change may occur under strong and prolonged exposure.
2. Can it be used as a protective coating on raw concrete?
   No, Sikafloor-316 is intended for resin systems. For raw concrete, Sika recommends varnishes or specific treatments such as Sikafloor®-410 or Sikagard®, depending on the application.
3. Is it compatible with all Sika decorative systems?
   It is compatible with most of them, including ComfortFloor, Flakes, Quartz/Color Quartz, Metallic, and other Sika PU/EP systems. Always check the technical data sheet for your chosen system.
4. What is the final finish: matte, satin, or glossy?
   Sikafloor-316 is generally available in matte or satin finishes, depending on the version sold. The final appearance also depends on the application method.
5. How long should you wait before walking on it?
   24 hours for light traffic, 72 hours for moderate stress, 7 days for complete chemical and mechanical resistance.
6. Can it be applied by oneself?
   Yes, but experience with resin is highly recommended. Rapid drying, susceptibility to bubbles, and layer consistency require a trained technician.
7. Does the surface become non-slip?
   Sikafloor-316 is smooth by default. A non-slip finish is possible by adding fillers (microbeads, fine quartz).
8. What is the consumption rate?
   Generally, 0.10 to 0.15 kg/m². Consumption varies depending on the absorption of the substrate and the type of system.
