Soudafoam X-tra 1K - High-performance manual polyurethane foam - Soudal

Soudafoam X-TRA is a ready-to-use, self-expanding, one-component polyurethane foam. When used with the Soudal Mega Adapter, it has very limited post-expansion, resulting in less waste and higher yields.

Applications:

• Cavity filling. Application of a silent layer.
• Optimizing insulation in the refrigeration sector
• Installation of windows and doors in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.

Instructions for use:

• Lightly dampen the clean and grease-free surface for faster hardening of the foam.
• Shake the aerosol can vigorously for 30 seconds. Screw the nozzle onto the aerosol can.
• Dampen the dust-free and grease-free surface.
• For unusual substrates, it is advisable to perform an adhesion test.
• Fill the joint or cavity to 1/3, as the foam continues to expand during its hardening.
• Shake regularly during use.
• If multiple coats are applied, dampen between coats. Uncured foam can be removed with cleaner or acetone.
• Hardened foam can only be removed mechanically, with Soudal PU-remover.

1. What is the difference between Soudafoam X-tra 1K and a classic PU foam?
   The X-tra version has superior yield, more controlled expansion and optimized curing time, allowing for faster work and reduced consumption.
2. Can it be used for assembling doors and windows?
   Yes, its controlled expansion and strong adhesion make it an ideal product for sealing window frames.
3. Should the surface be moistened before application?
   Yes, slightly. Humidity accelerates polymerization and improves the cellular structure of the foam.
4. Can you paint or coat the foam directly?
   Only after complete hardening. The surface can then be painted, plastered or coated.
5. How do you clean fresh foam?
   Use a PU cleaner or acetone. Once dry, only mechanical intervention is possible.
6. Can it be used outdoors?
   Yes, provided that the hardened foam is protected against UV rays (paint, coating, silicone…).
7. At what temperature should the foam be applied?
   Between +5°C and +30°C. Too low a temperature reduces efficiency.
8. How long does it take for the foam to harden completely?
   Generally 12 to 24 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.
9. Is the foam water-resistant?
   It becomes insensitive to moisture after polymerization, but must be protected from UV light.
10. Can Soudafoam X-tra be used in structural assembly?
    No, like all PU foams, it does not replace mechanical fixing. It is used for shims, insulation and filling, not for bearing a structural load.
