Supports:
- Support status:
The surface must be rigid, clean, dry, dust-free and grease-free.
- Preparing the support:
Silirub 2 AT has good adhesion to most substrates. However, for optimal adhesion and in critical applications, such as joints exposed to extreme weather conditions, heavily loaded joints, or joints loaded with water, it is recommended to follow a pretreatment procedure.
-
- Clean non-porous surfaces with Soudal Surface Cleaner .
- Apply Primer 150 to porous surfaces. If necessary, non-porous surfaces can be prepared with a Soudal activator or cleaner (see technical data sheet).
All substrates must be tested to ensure they are suitable in terms of adhesion and compatibility.
- Media type:
It has good adhesion to the following surfaces: all common building materials, ceramic tiles, fire-resistant paint, stainless steel, acrylic baths, glass, etc.
It is not suitable for PE, PP, PTFE, bituminous substrates.
Instructions for use:
- Application method:
It is important to ensure good ventilation in the areas where the product is applied. Continue to ventilate throughout the curing time.
-
- Apply the product using a manual, pneumatic or battery-powered caulking gun.
- Apply the product evenly without air inclusions in the joint.
- Smooth the joint with a spatula using a finishing solution.
Avoid getting any finishing solution between the wall and the sealant (to avoid possible detachment at the edge).
- Application tools:
With a manual, pneumatic or battery-powered gun.
- Cleaning method:
Clean with Soudal Surface Cleaner or Soudal Swipex immediately after use. It can only be removed mechanically.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
- Can the Silirub 2 AT be used in the bathroom?
Yes, but only as a secondary sealant. For areas in constant contact with water (showers, bathtubs), use a fungicidal sanitary silicone. - Is it compatible with natural stone?
Yes, its neutral alkoxy formulation does not cause stains or halos on natural stones such as marble, granite or travertine. - Can it be used to glue elements together?
It can perform light bonding, but it does not replace structural adhesive. - Does the sealant turn yellow in the sun?
No, Silirub 2 AT is extremely UV resistant and retains its color over time. - Is a primer necessary before application?
In most cases, no. However, on some very porous or difficult surfaces, a primer can improve adhesion. - Can the Silirub 2 AT be painted?
No, silicone sealants are not paintable. If a joint needs to be painted, an acrylic sealant must be used. - How long should you wait before exposing it to water?
It is recommended to wait a minimum of 24 hours, ideally 48 hours, to ensure proper polymerization. - Is Silirub 2 AT compatible with insulating glazing (double glazing)?
Yes, but be careful, it should not replace the primary butyl seal, but can serve as a finishing or secondary seal around the glazing.
