Foundation Sealer - Bituminous Protective Liquid - DL Chemicals

Installation of a vapor barrier and a water-repellent layer on foundations and buried floors in contact with groundwater. Suitable for all exterior uses and the most demanding locations. Can be applied to slightly damp surfaces.

Instructions for use:

1. Preparation :
   • The surfaces must be solid, clean, dust-free and grease-free.
   • Remove standing water, water film or droplets. Best adhesion is achieved on dry surfaces, but the surface does not need to be completely dry.
   • Stir the product well.
   • Fill any gaps and imperfections with cement mortar to achieve a smooth, even finish.
2. Laid :
   
   • Apply 2 coats for maximum protection. Apply the second coat only after the first coat has completely dried (after approximately 24 hours, depending on temperature and weather conditions).
   • Apply with a brush.
3. Consumption :
   
   • First coat of 0.67 l/m² and a second coat of 0.4 l/m², except for metal where 0.4 l/m² per coat should be applied.
4. Cleaning:
   • Clean the tools with white spirit.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does Foundation Sealer make a wall completely watertight?
   It creates an effective waterproof barrier against external moisture. For complete waterproofing (very damp cellar, hydrostatic pressure), it can be combined with other solutions (drainage, membrane).
2. Can it be used indoors?
   Yes, on walls not directly exposed to indoor humidity. Ventilate properly during and after application.
3. Is the product compatible with exterior insulation?
   Yes, after complete drying, the Foundation Sealer can be covered by: insulating panels, bituminous membranes, drainage systems.
4. How many coats should be applied?
   Two layers are recommended for optimal protection.
5. Can it be applied to a damp wall?
   The surface must be dry to the touch. Applying to a damp surface may reduce adhesion.
6. How long should I wait before backfilling?
   Complete drying of 24 to 48 hours is required (depending on weather conditions).
7. Can the product withstand water pressure?
   It protects against moisture and water splashes. For high water pressure, it is recommended to supplement it with a membrane or drainage system.
8. What is the lifespan of the coating?
   Very durable, often more than 10 years if the support is stable and mechanically protected.
9. Can Foundation Sealer be applied with a sprayer?
   Yes, if it is a device compatible with bituminous emulsion products.
10. Is the product dangerous?
    It does not contain harmful solvents, but gloves and goggles should be worn. Avoid prolonged skin contact.
