Teakprotect - Marine saturator for teak and cork - Owatrol
Protect your teak and cork wood from the harshest weather conditions with TEAK PROTECT . This saturator deeply nourishes your wood and guarantees long-lasting, high protection for your decks and garden furniture .
Easy to use , it can be applied with a brush or roller and dries in 15-20 minutes. Two coats are necessary to ensure optimal protection and preserve the natural appearance of the wood and cork.
Properties :
- Non-film-forming transparent protection.
- Aqueous phase. Does not flake.
- Excellent deep penetration of the substrate: does not form any surface film.
- Enhanced UV protection for long-lasting protection against harsh weather conditions
- Preserves the natural appearance of wood and cork. Highlights the grain and natural beauty of the surface, allows the cork to breathe while protecting it from water and humidity.
- Direct application to new or old prepared wood, free from any coating.
- Easy maintenance without sanding or stripping.
Application :
- Do not dilute. Mix the product well before and during application to homogenize the color and limit variations due to possible sedimentation.
- Apply a generous coat of TEAKPROTECT in the direction of the wood grain and along the entire length of the board, paying particular attention to the ends. Smooth with a back-and-forth motion until you achieve a uniform finish.
- Whenever possible, always finish in the same direction. Always finish at a natural break or edge such as a door, window, or porthole.
- Apply a second coat when the wood no longer looks wet (approximately 15 to 20 minutes). Never allow the wood to dry between coats. Apply wet-on-wet.
- If necessary, repeat the application until the surface is saturated (wood no longer absorbs the product), especially on very porous woods such as heat-treated wood, old softwoods, etc.
- Smooth out excess product with a spalter (or even wipe with a lint-free cloth) before drying to avoid any traces of drips or shine when drying. TEAKPROTECT must be in the wood and not on the surface.
- The final appearance is matte. Any trace of shine indicates the presence of product on the surface.
- When applying with a spray gun, smoothing is always recommended to improve penetration and give a uniform appearance.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between a saturator and an oil for teak?
The saturator penetrates deeply into the wood and stabilizes it without creating a film. As a result, there is no peeling, better durability, and easier maintenance. - Can Teakprotect be used on a boat deck?
Yes, the product is specially designed for maximum marine resistance, salt water, UV, and permanent humidity. - Is it necessary to sand before application?
Not necessarily. Light sanding is recommended if the wood is very damaged or if an old film-forming finish needs to be removed. - Does Teakprotect color the wood?
No, it offers a natural look. The wood regains its original warm color but without artificial coloring. - Is it compatible with all exotic wood species?
Yes, it is suitable for all dense woods, teak, ipe, cumaru, iroko, movingui, etc. - How long does the protection last?
Between 6 and 12 months depending on exposure (full sun, stagnant water, seaside). Simple annual maintenance prolongs the wood's lifespan. - Can it be used indoors? Yes, there are no contraindications. Perfect for exotic wood furniture or floors.
- Does the saturator make the surface slippery?
No, once dry, the product does not create a film and remains non-slip, even in wet areas. - Can Teakprotect be applied with a sprayer?
Not recommended. For optimal absorption, use a brush, roller or cloth. - What is the ideal weather for the application?
Between 10 and 25°C, without rain for 24 hours and without direct exposure to the sun.
