Sika MonoTop-111 AntiCorrosion - Anti-corrosion protection - Sika

Sika MonoTop-111 AntiCorrosion is a one-component, cementitious, polymer-modified grout containing silica fume, used as corrosion protection for steels in reinforced concrete and as a bonding bridge.

Features :

  • Easy to mix, just add water.
  • Easy to implement.
  • Excellent adhesion to concrete and steel.
  • Good resistance against the penetration of water and chlorides.
  • Good mechanical resistance.
  • Application by brush or by spraying.

Areas of application:

  • Corrosion protection of reinforcing bars during concrete repair.
  • Bonding bridge on concrete and mortar.

Application

Corrosion protection of steel used in concrete:

  1. Using a medium-stiff bristle brush, apply a first coat approximately 1 mm thick to the previously cleaned steel.
  2. When the first coat is dry to the touch, after approximately 4 to 5 hours at +20 °C, apply a second coat approximately 1 mm thick.

Bonding bridge:

  1. Apply using a brush or roller on the prepared (pre-moistened) surface.
  2. To achieve good adhesion, press Sika MonoTop-111 AntiCorrosion firmly and rub well to fill all irregularities.
  3. The repair mortar must then be applied "wet on wet" to the bonding bridge.

Consumption

Corrosion protection of steel in concrete:
As a general rule: ~ 1.7 kg of powder/m2 per 1 mm thick layer (apply a minimum of 2 layers in total)

Bonding bridge:
Consumption depends on the roughness of the substrate and the thickness applied.
As a general rule: ~ 1.5 - 2.0 kg of powder/m2/mm of thickness.
Thickness 1.2 - 1.7 mm.

Yield

2 kg of powder yields approximately 1.2 liters of mortar.

Packaging

2 kg bag

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can this product be applied directly to rusty steel or does it need to be cleaned first?
The steel must be prepared: rust, loose particles, dust, and any surface contaminants must be removed. Sandblasting or high-pressure cleaning are recommended methods.
  2. How many coats should be applied for corrosion protection?
For the protection of steel, it is recommended to apply a minimum of 2 coats of approximately 1 mm each.
  3. Can the product be used in low temperatures?
The substrate and ambient air temperature must be at least +5°C. Below this temperature, application is not recommended.
  4. Is the product compatible with all repair mortars?
Yes, within the context of the Sika concrete repair system. After applying the bonding agent (MonoTop-111), the repair mortar can be applied "wet-on-wet." However, compatibility must be ensured and Sika's recommendations followed.
  5. How do I clean the tools after use?
Clean all application tools and equipment immediately with water. The hardened product can only be removed mechanically.
  6. What is the shelf life of the product in storage?
Approximately 15 months if stored in the original sealed packaging, in a dry place and away from moisture.
  7. What consumption should be expected?
For steel protection: ~ 1.7 kg/m² of powder per 1 mm layer. For bonding bridge: ~ 1.5-2.0 kg/m²/mm of thickness (typical thickness 1.2-1.7 mm).
  8. Are there any particular constraints related to frost or moisture on the substrate?
Yes. The surface must be prepared without standing water, ideally saturated with water but not excessively so, just before application. The freshly applied product must be protected from frost.
