Owatrol Oil - Rust inhibitor - Owatrol

This anti-rust treatment makes your materials more resistant, stops rust and protects them from external aggressions.

To be used as an undercoat before your finishing paint , it guarantees you a quality result and protects your materials from heat and humidity thanks to its protective film.

Properties :

• Colorless rust inhibitor with high wetting power.
  Expels air and moisture from the substrate.
• Apply directly to rust.
• Forms a protective, insulating and flexible film.
• Hanging base for all types of supports.
• Easy to use, without sanding or sanding.
• Additive for paints, stains, glycerophthalic varnishes and alkyd-urethanes.
• Makes paints rustproof.
  Facilitates their application and improves their grip.
• Gives greater film flexibility.
• Decorative: preserves the rusty aspect of the supports while protecting them
• Yield: 18 m²/litre.
  The practical performance varies according to the type of use, the surface condition, the absorption of the support as well as the mode of application.

Application :

As a rust remover or base for hanging on difficult substrates:

• New, slightly oxidized or mechanically stripped surfaces:
  1. Clean and degrease carefully (alcohol, acetone or White-Spirit).
  2. Apply in impression a layer of pure Rustol-Owatrol.
  3. After drying, check that the surfaces are shiny and uniformly protected.
• Previously painted and rusted surfaces:
  1. Remove old paint scales by metal brushing.
  2. Clean and degrease carefully (alcohol, acetone or White-Spirit).
  3. Apply in impression a layer of Rustol-Owatrol. Before drying, remove loose scales of rust or paint. Retouch locally.
  4. After drying, check that the surfaces are shiny. Cover with a coat of a 25% Rustol-Owatrol / 75% fatty binder paint mixture (glycero for example).

As a paint additive:

• Always do a compatibility test.
• To make paints rustproof: provide a 25% Rustol-Owatrol / 75% paint mixture.
• To adhere to difficult surfaces: provide a 50/50 Rustol-Owatrol / paint mixture. After drying, apply a finish diluted 5% with Rustol-Owatrol.
• To facilitate the application of paints replacing thinners, provide an addition of 5% Rustol-Owatrol.

• Undercoat before paints and varnishes.
• Compatible with all air-drying varnishes, paints, lacquers and stains with a fatty binder (alkyds), anti-corrosion paints, oil paints, glycerophtalic paints, single-component urethanes, paints based on petroleum asphalts, fatty coatings, etc.
• Do not add to fast-drying “body type” paints, nor to chlorinated rubber or two-component paints.

It can be coated with all finishing paints with a glycerophtalic type fatty binder or based on urethane alkyd resins. In the case of glycerophthalic paint in aqueous phase, allow 5 days of drying at 20°C - 50% RH. Cannot be overcoated with acrylic, two-component or quick-drying paints.
