Sikafloor-01 Primer is a concentrated, single-component, water-based synthetic resin solution that is diluted with water and used as a primer on cement -based substrates, wood , and poured asphalt .
It is applied before the use of leveling mortars and tile adhesives , mainly to reduce substrate absorption and increase adhesion to the substrate.
EC 1 PLUS label: very low VOC emissions .

Areas of application

As a primary source for:

• Reduce the absorption of the substrate
• Increase adhesion on smooth, sound surfaces
• Protect the substrate against moisture caused by leveling mortar or tile adhesives.

Application

1. Strictly follow the installation procedures as defined in the job descriptions, application guides and work instructions, but which must always be adapted to the actual situation on site.
2. Apply the primer to the prepared surface using a roller, brush or by spraying (mixing ratio at least 1:1).
3. Ensure a continuous, well-covering layer, without small holes (pinholes), over the entire surface of the support.
   On highly absorbent surfaces, it may be necessary to apply a second coat of primer.
4. Avoid puddles in primary school.
5. Ensure that the waiting time is respected before applying subsequent products.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is SikaFloor-01 Primer mandatory before leveling?
   Yes, it guarantees optimal adhesion, limits air bubbles, and evens out the surface. Without a primer, the leveling compound can peel or crack.
2. How many coats should be applied?
   1 coat on slightly absorbent surfaces, 2 coats on very absorbent or dusty surfaces, 1 pure coat on non-absorbent surfaces (e.g. tiles).
3. Can you walk on it after application?
   Yes, after complete drying, which is approximately 30 to 90 minutes.
4. Can you apply a leveling compound over tiles?
   Yes, if the tiles are clean, degreased and mattified beforehand. Apply the primer undiluted.
5. Is the primary fuel compatible with underfloor heating?
   Yes, absolutely. Make sure to turn off the heating 48 hours beforehand and only turn it back on after the leveling compound has completely dried.
6. Should SikaFloor-01 Primer be diluted?
   Generally, no. On highly absorbent surfaces, dilution is possible up to 1:1 with water, according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
7. Can the leveling compound be applied if the primer is still sticky?
   No, it must be dry to the touch and transparent before any application.
8. Can it be used outdoors?
   No, it's an interior primer only.
