Sikascreed hardtop-60 - EC 1 PLUS floor leveling mortar - Sika

SikaScreed HardTop-60 is a slightly plastic, polymer-modified, fast- setting floor leveling mortar that can be quickly stressed and overlaid.

It can be applied in layer thicknesses from 8 mm and cures with virtually no shrinkage. It also exhibits particularly high resistance to abrasion and compression.
EC 1 PLUS label: very low VOC emissions .

Features

SikaScreed HardTop-60 stands out due to its unique combination of properties:

  • Ready-to-use mortar, slightly plastic consistency, simple and non-sticky application, also usable as a monolithic floor, or on a slope.
  • Hardening with virtually no shrinkage, allowing for leveling to varying thicknesses.
  • Rapid hardening for direct return to service (compressive strength > 35 N/mm² after 24 hours at +20°C)
  • Very high final resistance
  • Long open time for smoothing (> 60 min.) to achieve perfectly smooth surfaces
  • Resistant to high dynamic stresses
  • Can be recoated with Sikafloor-161 within 4 hours of finishing the smoothing step (at +20°C) without additional substrate preparation.
  • EC 1 PLUS label: very low VOC emissions .
  • Mineral-based, non-toxic and environmentally friendly

Scope of application

Due to its rapid drying, virtually shrinkage-free hardening, and high resistance to abrasion and compression, SikaScreed HardTop-60 is particularly suitable for the following applications:

  • Repairs to small and large areas of industrial concrete floors subjected to heavy loads, with the possibility of returning to service as early as 24 hours after application.
  • Quickly recoatable leveling mortar for Sikafloor synthetic resin-based floor coverings

Application

  1. Work the freshly mixed SikaScreed-20 BB bonding bridge well into the concrete substrate using a stiff brush, or spread using a rubber squeegee, then roll it on.
  2. Mix SikaScreed HardTop-60 using an electric mixer, then apply wet-on-wet onto SikaScreed-20 EBB bonding bridge and level using straightedges and an aluminum ruler.
  3. To achieve a denser/stronger surface, SikaScreed HardTop-60 must be smoothed manually using suitable trowels or smoothers.
  4. Do not use double helicopters with a heavy weight or seat models, but only light helicopters with a large diameter disc that are pushed.
  5. It is absolutely forbidden to spray water to treat/finish the surface.
    This reduces the surface resistance.
  6. Curing treatment required! The curing treatment will be carried out immediately after the last smoothing by installing a PE sheet or by applying Sikafloor-161.
  7. In areas with drafts, on open surfaces, at temperatures between +10°C and +15°C and in the presence of very dry climatic conditions, freshly applied mortar must be covered with a PE sheet immediately after its placement (before smoothing).
  8. The treatment using a PE sheet must be continued for at least one night (18 hours).
  9. In the event of temperatures between +10°C and +15°C (substrate and air), the mortar must be covered with a sheet for at least 48 hours, to avoid too rapid drying of the mortar which will lead to disturbances in hardening.
  10. In summer conditions, SikaScreed HardTop-60 mortar should not be applied under the direct influence of sunlight.
  11. If temperatures above +25°C are expected, implementation should begin later in the day, after reaching the maximum temperature.
  12. The substrate, dry mortar (bags) and mixing water must be kept cool.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the minimum/maximum thickness I can apply in a single pass?
Minimum thickness of 8 mm, maximum up to 80 mm depending on the type of screed (bonded, floating, etc.).
  2. How long before the ground is usable/accessible?
The floor is generally walkable after about 24 hours (at +20 °C), with a compressive strength of at least 35 N/mm².
  3. Can it be directly coated with a resin/epoxy coating?
Yes, after 18 to 24 hours, depending on the temperature and hardening, and if the smoothing/curing is done correctly.
  4. Does the mortar emit harmful VOCs?
No, it is classified EC1 PLUS / very low emissions, which makes it suitable for sensitive indoor environments.
  5. Is it compatible with underfloor heating?
Yes, it is compatible with underfloor heating systems (water or electric).
  6. Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, but only if the screed is covered with a waterproof coating or a suitable finishing screed.
  7. Are there any restrictions or precautions regarding application?
Yes, the substrate must be well prepared, the correct bonding agent must be used, it must not be mixed with Portland cement, temperatures must be respected, a curing treatment must be carried out, exposure to direct sunlight must be avoided during application, and smoothing times must be strictly observed.
