ProtectGuard EM plant-based formula is a water and oil repellent impregnating agent that enhances the color of mineral materials such as natural stone, artificial stone, concrete, terracotta, sandstone, granite and plaster .

It deepens the color of the existing material and gives it a permanent, intense wet look. ProtectGuard EM plant-based formula was developed with plant-based raw materials and is over 97% biodegradable.

Use

ProtectGuard EM Pro Plant-Based Formula is ideal for indoor and outdoor use on all types of porous or slightly porous floors: limestone, terracotta tiles, brick, natural and reconstituted stone, bluestone, concrete, marble, granite…

ProtectGuard EM Pro Plant-Based Formula can also be applied to vertical surfaces.

Implementation

1. Use the product undiluted: do not dilute.
2. Shake the package well for 5 minutes before use and carry out a preliminary test.
3. The surface must be impregnated in 2 homogeneous coats with an interval of 30 minutes.
   The first coat must be completely dry to the touch before applying the second.
4. Do not spray the product, apply with a roller or brush.
5. Do not overload the surface, apply in a thin layer, taking care to spread the product well.
6. In case of overload, the support may leave a sticky effect which will disappear in a few days.
   Do not attempt to rinse the support with water.
   Allow to air dry.
7. Protection of treated surfaces from rain and open to pedestrian traffic: 24 hours.
8. Optimal effectiveness achieved after 7 days

Application tools

Apply preferably with a roller:

• Smooth surface = 4 to 6 mm bristles.
• Textured backing = 6 to 8 mm pile.

It is also possible to apply it using a wide brush.

Consumption

±10m² / L (depending on the porosity of the material).

1. Does the product change the color of the surface?
   No, the finish is completely invisible. It does not alter the color or texture of the material.
2. Can it be used indoors?
   Yes, its non-toxic formula and lack of strong odor make it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms or living areas.
3. Can it be applied to a surface that has already been treated?
   It is best to remove the old treatment if it is film-forming or saturating. A preliminary test is recommended.
4. How long does the protection last?
   Generally 5 to 10 years, depending on exposure and maintenance.
5. Is ProtectGuard® EM compatible with swimming pools?
   Yes, only for pool decks. It should not be used underwater.
6. Does the product make the floor slippery?
   No, it does not alter the adhesion of the substrate.
7. Can you paint or glue onto a treated surface?
   As a general rule, it is best to use ProtectGuard EM after any painting or gluing. If gluing is to be done afterward, an adhesion test is recommended.
8. Is it frost and UV resistant?
   Yes, the product is very resistant to UV rays, weathering and frost.
9. Does it need to be reapplied regularly?
   An annual visual inspection is sufficient. Local reapplication can be carried out if certain areas wear out more quickly (terraces, high-traffic areas).
10. Is this an environmentally friendly product?
    Yes, it is bio-based, made from plant-derived ingredients, without petroleum solvents and environmentally friendly.
