Silirub MA - Special neutral silicone sealant - Soudal

Silirub MA is a high quality neutral elastic one-component sealant based on silicones.

Features :

• No staining (edge zone pollution) on porous surfaces such as marble, granite and other natural stones.
• Very malleable
• Unalterable color and resistant to UV rays
• Insensitive to mould, contains ZnP (biocide with fungicidal action)
• Permanent elasticity after polymerization
• Strong adhesion to virtually all substrates.

Applications:

• Sealings that come into contact with natural stone (marble, bluestone, granite, etc.) or other porous substrates.
• Waterproofing of sanitary rooms and kitchens coming into contact with natural stone.
• Expansion joints between the most diverse building materials.
• Finishing seals for glazing.

Supports:

Types: all common building surfaces
Condition: dimensionally stable, clean, dry, dusted and degreased.
Pre-treatment: Apply Primer 150 on porous substrates. No primer is needed for non-porous surfaces. There is no adhesion on PE, PP, PTFE (Teflon®) and bituminous surfaces. It is advisable to carry out a preliminary adhesion test on any support.

Glass Compatibility:

Tests carried out in our laboratories show that Silirub MA is compatible with the most basic butyl joints as well as with the most common PVB films. Given the large number of peripheral sealing systems available on the market, however, it is not possible to test the compatibility of each combination with glazing sealants. For double glazing systems, we always recommend carrying out a compatibility test.

Joint dimensions:

Minimum width for grouting: 5 mm
Maximum width for grouting: 30 mm
Minimum depth for grouting: 5 mm
Recommendation for grouting: joint width = 2x joint depth.

Remarks :

• Sanitary Formula is not intended to replace regular gasket cleaning. Excessive soiling, with deposits or soap residue, will promote the development of mold
• A total absence of UV can lead to a modification of the tint.
• In an acidic environment or a dark room, a white putty may turn slightly yellow. This will improve under the influence of sunlight.
• When using as a sealant, ensure that the surface of adjacent materials is free from contamination, eg. ex. temporarily protecting the edges of the joint with painter's tape.
• If the finish is done using a smoothing product or a soapy solution, ensure that the supports do not come into contact with this solution. Otherwise, the silicone will no longer adhere to this support. This is why we recommend only immersing the smoothing material in this solution.
• It is advisable at all costs to avoid the use of the smoothing product in direct sunlight. Indeed, under these conditions, the drying of the smoothing product takes place very quickly.
• Do not use in prolonged contact with water.
• Do not use on polycarbonate. For this application, use Silirub PC.
• When using different reactive sealants, the first sealant must be fully cured before the next is applied.
