Parafoam FR - Fire-resistant PU foam - DL Chemicals
Fire-resistant PU foam for sealing joints in fire-resistant walls, installing fire-resistant doors and windows, and other sealing work in areas where increased fire resistance of building materials is required.
- Single-component manual polyurethane foam
- Fire resistant
- Very good water resistance
- Post-expansion weak
- Good thermal and acoustic insulation
- Hardened foam can be cut, sawn, coated and painted and is moisture resistant
- Fireproof for up to 240 minutes
- Excellent adhesion to most common building materials such as wood, concrete, brick, plaster, metal, polystyrene (EPS and XPS), polyurethane...
Applications:
- Jointing in fire-resistant walls, installation of fire-resistant doors and windows and other sealing work in areas where the fire resistance requirements for building materials are high.
Instructions for use:
- Preparation :
- Wear gloves and safety glasses.
- Do not apply in confined spaces. It is important to ventilate the areas well during application and curing.
- Warm cold bombs with lukewarm water. Bombs cannot be heated above 30°C. Bombs that are too hot must be cooled with water. Shake the bomb to reach the required temperature more quickly.
- Check that the substrate has sufficient load-bearing capacity. Ensure that any existing coatings are load-bearing. Non-load-bearing layers or loose pieces must be removed. Pre-treat any powdery surfaces with a suitable primer.
- The surfaces must be free of dust and grease. Always pre-moisten the surfaces, as the foam expands due to moisture.
- Shake the aerosol can vigorously at least 20 times.
- Keep the aerosol can upright when screwing the adapter (straw) onto the valve.
- Laid :
- Hold the can upside down when extruding the foam. Adjust the flow rate by operating the adjustment screw and the trigger or with the adapter.
- Fill joints and cavities to 50-60%.
- For wider joints, apply in several coats and moisten between coats.
- After use, return the can to a vertical position using the gun or adapter.
- Cleaning:
-
- Cleaning of fresh foam with PU Foam & Gun Cleaner . Cleaning of hardened foam with Parafoam Remover.
Packaging:
- 750 ml spray can
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
- Is Parafoam FR foam truly fire-resistant?
Yes, it has official EN 1366-4 and EN 13501-2 certifications. Depending on the implementation, it can achieve a fire resistance of up to EI 240. - Can it be used for fire doors?
Yes, but only according to the door manufacturer's instructions. Some doors require specific foams or sealants. Parafoam FR is suitable for fireproofing, but the entire system must be certified. - Can it replace a fireproof sealant?
Not always. FR PU foam is perfect for filling and insulating, but some specific joints require an intumescent sealant. However, it can be used in many fire-resistant caulking applications. - Can the foam be painted after it has hardened?
Yes, once fully hardened, Parafoam FR can be cut, sanded and painted. - Is it compatible with all materials?
The foam adheres to concrete, brick, stone, plaster, wood, PVC, plastics and metals (steel, aluminum, etc.). It does not adhere to polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), PTFE (Teflon), greasy or dusty surfaces. - At what temperature can it be used?
Recommended application temperature: +5°C to +30°C. The cured foam withstands temperatures from -40°C to +80°C. - Should the surface be moistened before application?
Yes, slightly. Humidity improves the adhesion and expansion of PU foam. - Does the foam continue to expand after application?
Yes, in a controlled manner. It can expand slightly. It is advisable not to overfill the space. - What is the shelf life?
Approximately 12 to 18 months in vertical storage, in a cool place away from sunlight. - Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, but it is recommended to protect the foam once it has hardened (paint, coating, sealant) to avoid UV rays which can degrade it.
