Water repellent stone - Akemi

Silicone -based impregnation that penetrates deep into the stone , making it hydrophobic without reducing its vapor permeability .
This product protects facades from driving rain , makes them water-repellent and also prevents dirt from becoming embedded.

Features :

• Breathability is preserved because there is no coating on the surface.

• Generally, the color of the stone is not changed (test beforehand).
• Yield: approx. 5 to 20 m²/L depending on absorbency.

Use :

1. The optimal conditions for impregnation are: a soil and ambient temperature between 15 and 25°C, and protection from rain for 24 hours. The surface must not be heated by underfloor heating or sunlight.
2. Cracks up to 0.3 mm are closed by impregnation.
3. For absorbent surfaces, it is recommended to apply the product twice, wet on wet.
4. A fringed mop such as the AKEMI Impregnation Application Mop or, on small surfaces, the AKEMI Impregnation Application Pad, is recommended for a professional and uniform application of the product.
   On facades using the flood method, a low-pressure airless sprayer (max. 1 bar) can be used with a nozzle distance of 5 to 10 cm (condition: pipes and joints resistant to solvents).
   The impregnation is applied in this way until it flows over a distance of 40 to 50 cm.
5. Approximately 20 minutes after application, before the impregnation dries on the surface, the excess that is not absorbed from the stone must be completely wiped away with a suitable cloth or, e.g., with AKEMI Finish Mop, so that no residue remains on the surface.
   Polished surfaces must be repolished in addition to the removal of any surface haze.
6. In case of reduced effectiveness or irregular application, it is perfectly possible to reapply.
   The hydrophobic effect appears after approximately 24 to 48 hours and full effectiveness is achieved after approximately 1 week.
7. The tools can be cleaned with AKEMI Cleaner A.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does AKEMI water repellent change the color of the stone?
   No, it is designed to be colorless and preserve the natural appearance of the stone. On some very porous stones, a slight darkening effect may appear; a preliminary test is recommended.
2. Does this product make the surface shiny?
   No, AKEMI water repellent is completely invisible after drying and does not create any shiny film.
3. Can it be used outdoors?
   Yes, it is perfectly suited to outdoor conditions, resistant to rain, frost and UV rays.
4. How long does the protection last?
   The protection typically lasts several years, depending on exposure, traffic, and the porosity of the surface. Reapplication can be done when water is no longer repelled.
5. Can it be applied to a stone that has already been laid?
   Yes, it is ideal for both new stones and existing surfaces, provided they are clean and dry.
6. Is it compatible with underfloor heating?
   Yes, once completely dry, the water repellent is compatible with underfloor heating.
7. Does this product completely prevent stains?
   It significantly delays the penetration of liquids, allowing time to clean before a stain sets in. It does not replace regular cleaning.
