The PE joint backer rod is a round profile made of closed-cell polyethylene foam.

• It is mainly used to fill the gaps in construction and expansion joints, to ensure the correct size for the application of the sealant.
• Can also be used as a sealing strip.

   Without a backer rod, the sealant adheres on three surfaces, which creates stress and can lead to cracking or delamination. A backer rod allows adhesion on only two surfaces, ideal for expansion.
3. What diameter should I choose?
   The diameter of the joint base should be slightly larger than the joint width, in order to ensure good support without excessive compression.
4. Is it compatible with all sealants?
   Yes, Soudal PE joint backer rod is compatible with silicone sealants, polyurethane (PU) sealants, MS polymer sealants, acrylic sealants.
5. Can it be used outdoors?
   Yes, it is perfectly suited for indoor and outdoor use, resistant to humidity and climatic variations.
