Sika Aktivator-205 is a colorless, solvent-based adhesion promoter, which reacts with moisture and promotes adhesion between substrates and primers or adhesives.
The Sika Aktivator-205 is specially designed to treat surfaces before the application of Sikaflex adhesives and Sikasil mastic.

Application areas

Sika Aktivator-205 is used to improve adhesion on non-porous surfaces such as metals, plastics, enamelled ceramics and painted surfaces.
This product should only be used by experienced professionals.
Tests on original substrates and under local conditions should be performed to ensure proper adhesion and material compatibility.

Application

1. Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of grease, oil, dust and other contaminants.
2. Adhesion of substrates can be improved by adding or combining pre-treatment processes such as cleaning or sanding the surface.
3. Rub the surfaces to be bonded with a clean, lint-free paper cloth moistened (not wet) with Sika Aktivator-205.
4. Never immerse the cloth in the activator.
5. Only rub the surfaces with the clean part of the cloth.
6. Do not moisten the same cloth twice in a row and change it frequently.
7. Sika Aktivator-205 should be applied sparingly as any excess could lead to poor adhesion.
8. If the pre-treated surface has not adhered within the drying time, the activation process must be repeated (2 times only).
   The ideal product and surface temperature is between 15°C and 25°C.
