Sika Boom-152 Foamfix - Adhesive foam with EC 1 PLUS nozzle - Sika

Sika Boom-152 Foam Fix is a one-component, self-expanding polyurethane adhesive foam , applied using a nozzle , which adheres well to many types of substrates .
It is ideal for the efficient and economical permanent bonding of insulation panels and plasterboard.
EC 1 PLUS label: very low VOC emissions.

Features

  • Good adhesion to many building materials.
  • Moisture resistant once polymerized.
  • Single component, ready to use.
  • Good thermal insulation.
  • Easy application with nozzle.
  • Can be cut, sanded and painted.
  • EC 1 PLUS label: very low VOC emissions.

Areas of application

The product is designed for use indoors and outdoors, above and below ground level:

  • Plasterboard.
  • Extruded polystyrene (XPS) panels.
  • Expanded polystyrene (EPS) panels.
  • Wood fiber panels.
  • Cork insulation panels.
  • Non-structural building elements.

Application

  1. Shake the aerosol can well at least 20 times before use.
Repeat the shaking after long interruptions during use.
  2. Remove the aerosol can cap.
  3. Screw the nozzle firmly onto the aerosol thread without pressing the trigger or valve.
  4. Dispense the foam by pressing the trigger.
To ensure proper flow, hold the aerosol upside down during dispensing.
The amount of extruded foam can be adjusted by applying more or less pressure to the trigger.
  5. Apply lines of foam 2 to 3 cm wide to the panel.
  6. Space the lines approximately 25 cm apart.
  7. Before attaching the panels to the support, allow the foam to harden for the specified waiting time (2-3 minutes).
  8. Secure the panels within the specified open time of the foam (5-8 minutes).
Do not move or reattach the panels once the foam has started to harden.
If a panel needs to be removed and re-glued, reapply the foam as previously described.
  9. Fill the gaps and joints between the panels with foam.
Small spaces can be filled using an extension tube, although this will reduce the flow rate of the foam.

Consumption

Yield: ~ 23 m, 30 mm wide line.

Packaging

750 ml aerosol can with light yellow rubber valve.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can Sika Boom-152 Foamfix replace a conventional adhesive?
Yes, it is a high-performance adhesive foam designed to replace mechanical glues or sealants in many installations (insulating panels, frames, lightweight elements, etc.).
  2. Can it be used to glue insulating panels onto a facade?
Yes, it is compatible with EPS/XPS panels often used in external thermal insulation. However, the recommendations for the specific insulation system used must be followed.
  3. Can it be used indoors?
Yes, thanks to its EC1 PLUS classification, it emits very few volatile compounds, making it suitable for indoor use.
  4. Is the adhesive foam resistant to moisture?
Once fully hardened, it is highly resistant to humidity and climatic variations. It must be protected from UV rays outdoors.
  5. On which surfaces is adhesion better?
On concrete, masonry, stone, wood, polystyrene, PVC, metal… It does not adhere properly to PE, PP, PTFE or heavily siliconed surfaces.
  6. How long does it take to harden completely?
Between 12 and 24 hours, depending on humidity and temperature conditions.
  7. Can the foam be painted after application?
Yes, once hardened and sanded, it can be painted or coated.
  8. Is the EC1 PLUS nozzle reusable?
No, the nozzle is designed for a clean and precise application, but it is not intended to be reused if the foam has hardened.
