Sikaflex-1A PLUS is a one-component, low-modulus elastic sealant that cures with atmospheric humidity .

Areas of application
Sikaflex-1A PLUS is developed for elastic jointing and sealing of movement and connection joints in the building envelope.
Due to its very low modulus of elasticity, Sikaflex-1A PLUS is also suitable for use with facade insulation systems (ETICS).
Application
- The surface must be clean and dry, sound, homogeneous, free from oil, grease, dust and loose or non-adherent particles.
- Sikaflex-1A PLUS adheres without the use of primers or activators.
- However, for optimal adhesion and critical high-performance applications such as work on multi-story buildings, for high-stress joints, or in case of exposure to extreme weather conditions or immersion in water, the following primers should be used and/or the following preparation procedures should be carried out.
Non-porous substrates:
- Aluminium, anodized aluminium, stainless steel, galvanized steel, powder-coated metals or ceramic tiles must be cleaned and pre-treated with Sika Aktivator-205 using a clean cloth.
Maintain a minimum evaporation time of 15 minutes (maximum 6 hours) before applying the sealant. - All other metal surfaces such as copper, brass and zinc titanium must also be cleaned and pre-treated with Sika Aktivator-205 using a clean cloth.
After an evaporation period of at least 15 minutes, apply a coat of Sika Primer-3 N using a brush.
Maintain a minimum evaporation time of 30 minutes (maximum 8 hours) before applying the sealant. - The PVC must be cleaned and then pre-treated with Sika Primer-215 using a brush.

Porous substrates:
- On concrete, aerated concrete, cementitious materials, mortars and bricks, apply Sika Primer-3 N using a brush.

Important note: Primers are adhesion enhancers.
They do not in any way replace careful cleaning of the surface, nor do they significantly improve the cohesion of the surface.
Consumption
The size of the joint must be calculated in order to be able to absorb the movement capacity of the sealant.
In general, the joint width should be > 10mm and < 40mm.
A width-to-depth ratio of ~2:1 must be maintained.

- Can it be used for an outdoor terrace joint?
Yes, SikaFlex-1A Plus is perfectly resistant to weathering, UV rays, and the thermal movements of a terrace. - Is it compatible with fresh concrete?
No, you have to wait until the concrete is sufficiently dry and stabilized before application. - Can SikaFlex-1A Plus be painted?
Yes, after complete polymerization. Test the paint's compatibility (some flexible paints are recommended). - Can the sealant be permanently exposed to water?
Yes, after polymerization, but it is not intended for continuous immersion underwater (deep pools, basins). - Is a primer necessary before application?
In most cases, no, except on certain porous or very smooth surfaces. Sika recommends a primer for: anodized aluminum, glass, and highly absorbent surfaces. - What is the complete drying time?
The sealant dries on the surface in 1 to 2 hours, but complete polymerization can take 7 to 10 days, depending on the thickness and humidity. - Can it be used for gluing?
This is not a sealant-adhesive. It has some adhesive power, but for pure bonding, choose SikaFlex-11FC+. - What size joint is it suitable for?
For optimal operation, minimum width 10 mm, maximum width 40 mm. Width/depth ratio: 2:1.
