Choice and quality of the blue stone of Belgium:

Certificates guaranteeing traceability can be provided on demand.

There are 3 main choices in stone, The marbrier choice (the most qualitative), the current choice and the third choice. This last quality is not sold by Pierre-Sol, except in some antique or aged finishes that justify the presence of defects.

Current choice (or technical or current building): The vast majority of productions are made in common choices, especially for classic finishes.

Choice marbrier (or 1st choice): This choice is intended for exceptional pieces made by a stonemason or projects requiring significant precision in the measurement tolerance. The stone has very few defects.

Finishes and aesthetics:

FINITIONS LISSES

Crude finishing of sawmill in common choice or marbling choice. State of the gross surface after cutting the slices.

Pierre Bleue belge/Pierre-Bleue-Belge-brut-de-sciage

Finish grinding (or egrenized or scoured). State carried out dry. Shades of hue range from grey or scoured grind (P14 to 40) to light blue grinder (P60 - 80 or 120).

Pierre-Bleue-Belge-meule-ecure-egrise

Light softened finish. Shades of light blue softened hue (G220). The softening reveals traces of grinding visible depending on the grain of the abrasive but without any apparent scratches.

Pierre Bleue belge/Pierre-Bleue-Belge-adoucie-claire

Dark softened finish (or matte or satin polish). State of dark softener or matte polish (G400 or 500)

Pierre-Bleue-Belge-adoucie-foncee-poli-mat-satinee-mi

Shortbread finish. Pressurized sanding is a way to quickly get a rough light grey surface

FINITIONS "FINE SIZE"

Bouchardée finish (fine, big, manual,...)  Thin and large from 3 cm thick. The manual bouchardised is done with the help of the boucharde, hammer with steel head composed of a checkerboard of pyramidal tips. The traces (small points 1 to 3 mm in width and depth) are more or less spaced depending on the tooth of the tool.

Pierre-Bleue-Belge-boucharde

Chiselled finish. This is the traditional size par excellence with many streaks (1 to 2 mm deep) of slightly inclined asymmetrical profile. Light Grey tint.

Pierre-Bleue-Belge-cisele

Old-sized (or hepped or retondue) finish.  From 3 cm thick. The old size was a refining size of the stonemason's work.  Light grey.

Pierre-Bleue-Belge-taille-ancienne-heppelee-retondue

Frosted finish. From 3 cm thick. Exclusively mechanical state with the appearance of frost and quite rough.

Pierre-Bleue-Belge-givre

FINITIONS "GROSSIER SIZE"

Sclyped (or layed) finish. From 3 cm thick. It consists of fine parallel V streaks, 1 to 5 mm deep, between which the material is gross bursting. The number of streaks or strokes can vary from 10 to 20 strokes per dm.

Pierre-Bleue-Belge-sclype-layee

Tiered finish (1 stroke per cm). From 3 cm thick. The bleacher is a steel scissor in the shape of a comb. The size of the sharp teeth and the width of the failure vary.

Pierre-Bleue-Belge-gradinee

Pricked finish. Thin and large from 3 cm thick. It reveals many points that overlap on each other. Compared to the bubbly, its rough texture is accentuated by its sharper relief parts.

Pierre-Bleue-Belge-piquetee

Slad finish. From 3 cm thick. It offers a contrast of light grey carvings on the dark grey of the stone. The non-continuous but parallel carvings are an orderly set with a disorganized appearance

Pierre-Bleue-Belge-sbattue

attention:

  1. For logistical reasons: parts larger than 155 cm in length could be divided into equal parts of up to 155 cm.
  2. For logistical reasons: orders that are too small or too light may be declined. In general, the minimum order is 10 square meters.
  3. All orders with problematic or too low logistics can be removed directly by the customer. :-)
  4. The measurements indicated for the order are the maximum measurements of the stone: thickness, length, width,...
  5. We take care to check the orders to validate the technical feasibility and/or the right uses.
