Igolatex - Bituminous coating for foundations - Sika

Igolatex is a stable emulsion of bitumen, reinforced with mineral fibers and synthetic resins .
The wicking effect due to the fibers accelerates drying; the resin improves the adhesion and contributes, with the fibers, to increase the resistance to cracking , while allowing the loading in thickness.

Features

• Can be applied directly to rough substrates: agglomerations, concrete blocks, cellular concrete blocks.
• Easy application with a trowel.
• Adheres to substrates bound to cement, stone, brick, wood...
• Does not creep and does not faience.
• Waterproof.
• Resists organic waste and most dilute acids and saline solutions.
• Compatible with Portland and HK cements for use in mortar.
• Alcohol resistant.
• Not resistant to hydrocarbons (for this problem, contact us).

Application areas

Building & Industry

• Waterproofing of very rough-looking buried foundations.
• Protection of concrete against light attacks (acids and weak bases).
• Sealing of cold rooms.

Agriculture

• Interior protection of manure pits.
• Protection of pulp silo walls.
• Protection of foundations and frames of livestock buildings.

Remarks

The application of Igolatex in the basement does not exclude:

• a casing in the case where the foundation is permanently in the water table.
• a drainage of the foundation in the case of arrival of running water.

Application

Substrate preparation

1. The support must be clean (dusted, degreased).
2. A porous support will be moistened beforehand.
3. The masonry will be carefully repointed with mortar before application.

Implementation

1. Apply with a trowel, pressing firmly.
2. The first coat will preferably be applied from bottom to top with the notched side of the trowel, the second coat filling and covering the grooves left by the first coat.
3. The total thickness of the coating should not exceed 3 to 4 mm in order to obtain correct drying.

Consumption

Normal consumption depending on surface roughness and desired result from 1.0 kg/m² to 2.5 kg/m².
