FM310 - Universal manual and gun-applied PU foam - Illbruck

FM310 is a single-component polyurethane foam that expands and hardens with the humidity of the air and the substrate.

It is a professional-grade expanding foam, suitable for all surfaces encountered in construction: concrete, masonry, stone, plaster, wood, cement and mineral fiber concrete, polystyrene, polyester, rigid PVC...

This aerosol is equipped with an innovative 2-in-1 system, allowing for both manual AND gun-like use.

For filling cavities, we recommend manual use with the nozzle; if more precise use of the foam is required, the aerosol can be screwed onto an expanding foam gun such as the illbruck AA255 gun.

Scope of application

FM310 can be used for any acoustic soundproofing, thermal insulation and cavity filling operation.

Advantage :

  • 2-in-1 system: gun-type & manual.
  • 360° all-around use.
  • Weatherproof, heat and humidity resistant (hardened foam must be protected from UV rays).
  • HCFC-free propellant gas.
  • Good dimensional stability.
  • High expansion volume.

Preparation :

  • FM310 must be used at an ambient temperature between -10°C and +35°C.
  • The aerosol must be at a temperature between +10°C and +30°C.
  • The surfaces must be solid, dust-free and grease-free.
  • Moisten the bonding surfaces to obtain a foam with a homogeneous cellular structure and faster hardening.
  • Shake the aerosol can well 20 to 30 times before using.

Implementation:

Manual:

  • Remove the protective cover from the top of the aerosol can.
  • Follow the explanations of the pictograms opposite.
  • To dispense the foam, gently press the valve; the amount of extruded foam can be controlled by adjusting the lever on the valve.
  • Fill the cavities to 60% to leave room for foam expansion.
  • For large cavities (more than 5cm deep), it is best to apply the foam in several layers and moisten between each layer (wait 30 minutes between each layer).

Pistolable:

  • Remove the protective cover from the top of the aerosol can.
  • Screw the aerosol can fully onto the gun. Use the green tightening ring.
  • Control the extrusion by lightly pressing the trigger on the gun and adjust the quantity with the adjustment screw.
  • Fill the cavities to 80% to leave room for foam expansion.

For large cavities (more than 5cm deep), it is best to apply the foam in several layers and moisten between each layer (wait 30 minutes between each layer).

Hygiene and safety precautions

  • Work only in well-ventilated premises.
  • NO SMOKING.
  • Wear protective clothing.
  • Protect your eyes and wear protective gloves.
  • Protect the work area extensively with paper or a plastic sheet.

Cleaning:

  • After use, quickly clean with illbruck AA290 cleaner either the valve and nozzle (for manual use), or the outside of the gun and its nozzle (for gun use).
  • Hardened foam can only be removed mechanically (using a utility knife, sanding with sandpaper, etc.). Therefore, it is strongly advised to protect floors with plastic sheeting or paper in the work areas.

Packaging:

  • 2-in-1 aerosol can of 750 ml.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is FM310 foam suitable for windows and doors?
Yes, it is perfectly suited for the installation and insulation of frames, thanks to its controlled expansion and good stability.
  2. Can the FM310 be used without a pistol?
Yes, the FM310 is manual and can be sprayed. It can be applied directly with the supplied nozzle or with a spray gun for greater precision.
  3. Is it moisture resistant?
Yes, once hardened, the foam is resistant to moisture, but it must be protected from UV rays by a coating (plaster, paint, silicone…).
  4. Can you paint the foam after it has dried?
Yes, after complete hardening, the foam can be painted, coated or covered.
  5. What is the shelf life?
Approximately 12 to 15 months in its original packaging, stored away from heat and frost.
  6. Is the foam insulating?
Yes, it offers excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, ideal for limiting thermal bridges and noise pollution.
  7. Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, but it must be protected from UV rays after application (paint, plaster, sealant).
