Sikaflex AT-Connection is a one-component, silane-terminated polymer-based, moisture-curing, elastic sealant .
It is ideal for connection and expansion joints between porous and non-porous substrates and is perfectly suited for both indoor and outdoor use.
EC 1 PLUS label: very low VOC emissions .

Areas of application

Sikaflex AT Connection is developed for connection joints between porous and non-porous substrates such as around doors and/or windows and other building elements.

Application

1. The surface must be clean and dry, sound, homogeneous, free from oil, grease, dust and loose or non-adherent particles.
2. Sikaflex AT-Connection adheres without the use of primers or activators.
3. However, for optimal adhesion and critical high-performance applications such as work on multi-story buildings, for high-stress joints, or in case of exposure to extreme weather conditions or temporary immersion in water, the following primers should be used and/or the following preparation procedures should be carried out.

Non-porous substrates:

• Aluminium, anodized aluminium, stainless steel, PVC, galvanized steel, powder-coated metals or glazed tiles must be cleaned and pre-treated with Sika Aktivator-205 using a clean cloth.
  Maintain a minimum evaporation time of 15 minutes (maximum 6 hours) before applying the sealant.
• All other metal surfaces such as copper, brass and zinc titanium must be cleaned and pre-treated with Sika Aktivator-205 using a clean cloth.
  After an evaporation period of at least 15 minutes, apply a coat of Sika Primer-3 N using a brush.
  Maintain a minimum evaporation time of 30 minutes (maximum 8 hours) before applying the sealant.

Porous substrates:

• On concrete, aerated concrete, cementitious materials, mortars and bricks, apply Sika Primer-3 N using a brush.
  Maintain a minimum evaporation time of 30 minutes (maximum 8 hours) before applying the sealant.

Important note: Primers are adhesion enhancers.
They do not in any way replace careful cleaning of the surface, nor do they significantly improve the cohesion of the surface.

Consumption

The width of the joint must be consistent with the range of movement of the sealing mass.
As a general rule, the joint width should be > 10 mm and < 35 mm.
Observe a width/depth ratio of ~ 2:1.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Sikaflex AT-Connection compatible with natural stone?
   Yes, it is specially formulated to prevent migration and does not cause stains, unlike some silicone sealants.
2. Can you paint on it?
   Yes, it is paintable, but it is recommended to do a test beforehand as some paints can cause slight cracking or delayed drying.
3. Is it suitable for outdoor use?
   Absolutely, it is perfectly resistant to UV rays, humidity and climatic variations.
4. Can it be used in humid areas (bathroom, kitchen)?
   Yes, as long as the seal is not permanently submerged. For a seal that is constantly in contact with water, use a sanitary silicone.
5. How long does it take for it to harden?
   The skin forms in 30–60 minutes, and complete polymerization occurs in a few days depending on the thickness of the joint.
6. Does the sealant give off an odor?
   Very low emissions thanks to AT technology. EC1 PLUS certified (Very low emissions).
7. On what surfaces does it adhere without a primer?
   Metals, concrete, wood, PVC, aluminum – most common building materials. On unconventional surfaces, a test is recommended.
8. How durable is the product?
   Sika guarantees a high longevity, superior to that of traditional sealants, thanks to its high-performance formulation.
