Rustol Primer AP.60 - Anti-corrosive primer - Owatrol

Rustol Primer AP.60 is both a primer and a matt finish for all substrates based on Rustol Owatrol which stops and stabilizes rust durably.
It can be applied to different supports: metal, wood, PVC...

Properties :

• Provides reinforced and decorative rust protection.
• Apply directly to rust and slightly oxidized metals.
• Reinforced UV protection. Non-breakable flexible film.
• Withstands temperatures up to + 175°C.
• As a primer, can be overcoated with paints with fatty binder/glycerophthalic/alkydeurethanes, monocomponent alkyds.
• Ready to use.
• Yield: 16 m²/l per coat.
  Practical performance will vary with type, surface condition and absorbency as well as mode of application.

Substrate preparation:

• The support must be prepared, clean, dry and not greasy.
• Respect the DTU rules in force.
• On lightly/heavily oxidized and/or previously painted surfaces, first remove non-adherent parts of rust or paint.

Proper Application Tips:

1. Stir well before and during application to keep the pigments in suspension.
2. Do not dilute.
3. In case of spray application and depending on the type of nozzle used, add 5 to 20% of Rustol Owatrol to Rustol Primer AP.60 to bring it to the desired viscosity.
4. Apply between + 5°C and + 35°C. Do not apply on a very hot support.
5. During an application on wood, the humidity of the wood must not be higher than 18% according to DTU in force.

Application :

• Apply in one coat as a primer. As a one or two coat finish. Let dry 24/48 hours between coats.
• New surfaces: directly apply 1 to 2 coats of Rustol Primer AP.60.
• Lightly oxidized surfaces: light metal brushing followed by 1 to 2 coats of Rustol Primer AP.60.
• Heavily oxidized surfaces: proceed as above but add 5 to 20% Rustol Owatrol to Rustol Primer AP.60 as the first coat.
• Previously painted and oxidized surfaces: it is recommended to apply a coat of pure Rustol Owatrol before the first coat of Rustol Primer AP.60.
• Non-ferrous metal surfaces: blocks all corrosion (zinc, aluminium, copper, etc.). On zinc and galvanized steel does not require pickling. Application see “New surfaces”.
