Aquabat - Water-based waterproofing agent - Zep Industries

Water-based waterproofing agent for hydrophobic impregnation of porous , mineral substrates such as French stone , natural stone, brick masonry, plaster layers, cellular concrete, concrete.

Properties :

  • Prevents atmospheric soiling, the appearance of algae, crumbling due to rain and wind.
  • Protects walls against moisture penetration.
    Prevents plaster from flaking.
  • After drying, it is completely colorless, allows gas exchange, and lets the surfaces breathe.
  • Non-hazardous, non-toxic, solvent-free.
  • After cleaning, the woodwork can be painted normally.
  • The walls become less damp, resulting in better insulation and reduced heating costs.
  • When applied under good atmospheric conditions, there is no emission of substances harmful to the environment or the atmosphere.
    Improved working conditions. pH-neutral.

Applications:

For hydrophobic impregnation of porous, mineral substrates such as French stone, natural stone, brick masonry, plaster layers, cellular concrete, concrete.
Also suitable for hydrophobic treatment of mineral paints.

Instructions for use:

  1. The surface must be clean; efflorescence and mold must be removed.
Cracks larger than 0.3 mm must be sealed.
The surface must be completely dry; after rain, wait a minimum of 24 hours and after high-pressure cleaning of the facade, wait 3 days (dry weather).
  2. Can be applied at temperatures between 10°C and 25°C.
Excessive heating of treated facades can be avoided by using covering materials, nets and/or tarpaulins.
  3. Application below 10°C can cause a significant slowdown in water evaporation.
  4. Optimal water-repellent action is achieved after 2 to 3 weeks, depending on atmospheric conditions.
  5. The product is always used undiluted.
Apply with a brush, a gun or a spray bottle.
  6. Always work from top to bottom.
  7. Stop when the surface no longer absorbs the product.
Protect the treated facade from rain for a minimum of 5 hours.
  8. Strong winds and direct sunlight can cause the solvent (water) to evaporate too quickly, resulting in shallower penetration.
  9. Coverage capacity: depending on the porosity of the substrates: 2-10 m² per litre.
When dealing with new masonry, it is advisable to wait 28 days before applying the product.
  10. The water repellency can be checked by visualizing the beading effect.
Parts of the facade, such as glass, varnish, frames, plants, which cannot come into contact with the product, must be protected or covered.
  11. After drying, the active product is transparent and quite solid; it can possibly be removed from the glass using a small knife.

Packaging:

20 L and 1000 L.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Does Aquabat change the color of the substrate?
No, it is completely colorless and invisible after drying. It does not darken or create a shiny film.
  2. Can Aquabat be used indoors?
Yes, its low-odor aqueous formula allows for indoor application, provided there is adequate ventilation.
  3. What is the drying time before exposure to rain?
It is recommended to wait a minimum of 4 to 6 hours without rain. Full protection is achieved after 24-48 hours.
  4. Does Aquabat make surfaces slippery?
No, because it does not form a film. It does not alter the adhesion of porous surfaces.
  5. How long does the protection last?
Up to 10 years, depending on the type of support, exposure and maintenance.
  6. Can you repaint after application?
No, Aquabat prevents paint from adhering. It must be applied to a final surface not intended to be painted.
  7. Is it compatible with an anti-moss treatment?
Yes, it is recommended to perform a cleaning/anti-foam treatment before applying Aquabat.
  8. How to verify effectiveness?
After drying, pour a little water onto the surface: if it beads up, the treatment is effective.
