EPDM Membrane - Air and watertight membrane - Soudal

This airtight and watertight EPDM membrane is used to obtain weatherproof exterior facades, generally between the window frame and the building envelope. Complies with CE standard: EN 13984. 1.2 mm thick membrane. Supplied in various roll widths.

Features :

  • Air and water tightness.
  • Compatible with bitumen.
  • Good resistance to extreme temperatures.
  • Good weather and UV resistance Alkali resistance.
  • Resistance to microorganisms.
  • Retains its elasticity.
  • Flexible.
  • High tear resistance.
  • Compliant with EN13984 standard.

Applications:

  • For airtightness and watertightness of connections, foundations (against rising damp) and window and door connections: exterior side of the interior leaf (before application of the insulation of the facade), solid exterior walls, ventilated exterior facades and under the window sill (or the bottom of the door).

Conditioning :

  • Packaging: Strip of 200/250/300/400 mm x 20 mx 12 mm. (lxwxh)

Manual :

  • Depending on the situation, EPDM Membrane can be installed before or after the façade element (eg window frame).
  • Cut EPDM Membrane to a length 10 to 20 cm longer than that of the façade element concerned (eg window frame).
  • We thus have on both sides 5 to 10 cm to overlap the corners.
  • The film can be fixed to the facade element with Soudaseal EPDM or mechanically (with a pressure bar, clamping bar, etc.).
  • Start at the bottom of the building element and work upwards for good drainage.
  • After incorporating the facade element, fill the connection with the shell using a suitable PU foam (eg Flexifoam).
  • After the hardening (and possibly the cutting) of the foam, the EPDM Membrane is glued on the shell side with Soudaseal EPDM.
  • To do this, apply an uninterrupted bead of adhesive (= airtight!) 5 to 6 mm thick.
  • Count ±1 bead of glue per 5 cm section of EPDM width.
  • Glue the film, not too tight, on the structural work, in order to compensate for any movements between the different construction elements but avoid bending it.
  • Then press the film evenly with a pressure roller to produce a layer of glue 1-2 mm thick and approx. 25mm wide. Thus, the bonding surface is sufficient and the glue can dry through. Overlapping parts of EPDM Membrane (eg corners) should be bonded with Soudaseal EPDM.
  • Gluing can only be applied after the glue has completely dried. To do this, consult the technical data sheet of the glue.
