Silirub 2 - Neutral silicone sealant - Soudal

Silirub 2 is a high quality elastic one-component sealant based on silicones.

Applications:

• All common construction joints.
• Glazing and connection joints.
• Expansion joints between the most diverse building materials.
• Seals between PVC, metal and treated wood profiles and glass.

Chemical resistance:

Resistant to intermittent exposure to sea water, detergents, oils, weak acids and bases (prior testing required). Poor resistance to aromatic solvents, concentrated acids, chlorinated hydrocarbons.

Supports:

Types: all common construction surfaces.

Condition: dimensionally stable, clean, dry, dusted and degreased.

Pretreatment: Silirub 2 has good adhesion to most substrates. However, for optimum adhesion and in critical applications, such as joints exposed to extreme weather conditions, heavily loaded or water-laden joints, it is recommended that a pre-treatment procedure be followed. Prepare non-porous surfaces with a Soudal activator or cleaner (see technical data sheet). Apply Primer 150 on porous substrates. There is no adhesion on PE, PP, PTFE (Teflon®) and bituminous surfaces. It is advisable to carry out a preliminary adhesion and compatibility test on any support.

Glass Compatibility:

Tests carried out in our laboratories show that Silirub 2 is compatible with the majority of insulating double glazing peripheral seals as well as with the most common PVB films. External tests carried out at TÜV Rheinland have shown that no visual defects or other incompatibilities were found between the secondary waterproofing or the PVB film and Silirub 2 after exposure to high temperatures and high humidity (report no. 12490R-a-89202273). Given the large number of peripheral sealing systems available on the market, however, it is not possible to test the compatibility of each combination with glazing sealants.
