Sika Igolflex-201 - 2-component thick bituminous emulsion - Sika

Sika Igolflex-201 is a bituminous coating , bi-component, flexible, modified by polymers , which is applied in thick layer, and which contains fibers.
Sika Igolflex-201 is used against moisture and water penetration.

Features

  • Non-flammable
  • Flexible with crack-bridging capabilities
  • Hardens quickly
  • Used as an adhesive for thermal insulation panels
  • Can be applied on dry and slightly damp surfaces (pores not filled with water)
  • Easy to apply with a notched trowel
  • No sag on vertical surfaces

Application areas

  • Waterproofing and waterproofing of concrete structures underground or on the surface, in order to protect them against percolating liquid and the penetration of humidity and water
  • Waterproofing under cementitious screeds
  • Bonding of lightweight thermal insulation panels

Application

Media quality

  1. Substrate should be even, dry or slightly damp (but free of water in pores), free of dust, loose materials, surface contamination, existing coatings, oils, greases and other materials that may reduce adhesion of the coating.
  2. Surface defects (> 5 mm) such as blowholes, small holes, gravel nests, etc. must be filled/repaired with suitable Sika repair mortars.

Substrate preparation

  1. Surfaces should be cleaned and prepared using proper preparation techniques to achieve a clean, lightly textured surface.
  2. Defects should be repaired with an appropriate Sika repair mortar.
  3. Porous supports must be primed with Sika Igasol-101 or Sika Igolflex-101 diluted (1 part by weight Sika Igolflex-101: 2 parts water).

Use

  1. First mix component A (liquid) with an electric mixer with a mixing rod (300–400 rpm) or other similar equipment.
  2. Mix the liquid and all the colored pigment until you get an even color / mixture.
  3. Add component B (powder) to component A and mix the 2 components continuously for at least 3 minutes, until a uniformly colored mixture is obtained.
  4. Too fast and too long mixing should be avoided to minimize air entrainment.
  5. During the final mixing phase, scrape the sides and bottom of the container with a trowel or straight spatula at least once to ensure thorough mixing.
  6. Mix complete units only.
    Mixing time for A + B = ~3.0 minutes.

Consumption

These figures are theoretical and do not take into account the additional product required due to surface porosity, surface profile, level variations, wastage, etc.

Waterproofing against moisture ~4.5 to 5.0 kg/m2 (~4.5 to 5.0 mm wet film thickness, or ~3.1 to 3.4 mm dry film thickness)
Waterproofing ~6.0 to 6.5 kg/m2 (~6.0 to 6.5 mm wet film thickness, or ~4.4 to 4.7 mm dry film thickness)
Adhesive for insulation panels ~2.0kg/m2

Conditioning

  • 32 kg container.
