SikaFlex-228 - Low Viscosity Sealant - Sika

Sikaflex-228 is a single-component, elastic, self-leveling surface adhesive , which is suitable for bonding various materials.
These include solvent -resistant foams (PUR), stainless steel sheets , aluminum sheets, panels made of wood- based materials and plasterboard.

• Sikaflex-228 can also be used to seal overlaps or to pour floor joints.
• For exterior applications, the adhesive should be protected from sunlight (overcoating or joint covering), especially when applied in thin layers.
• Preliminary tests should be carried out with the original materials to avoid stress cracking.
• This product is only suitable for experienced users.
• To ensure adhesion and material compatibility, preliminary tests should be carried out with the original materials under the appropriate conditions.

Application

1. Sikaflex-228 can be applied at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C (environment and product).
   Changes in responsiveness and application properties must be taken into account.
   The optimum temperature for substrate and glue is between 15°C and 25°C.
2. When applying the adhesive to large surfaces, a toothed spatula (eg 3 mm teeth) must be used.
3. If the substrates to be glued are impervious to moisture or if accelerated curing is required, the adhesive can be sprayed with a light mist of water before joining the substrates (use a spray gun to apply approximately 10 g of water per m2).
4. Avoid air entrapment during assembly or joint filling.
5. Press together the elements to be assembled with sufficient pressure until the glue hardens, at least 3 hours.

Approx. 0.6 - 1.2 l per m2
