E.S.P. - Paint and varnish on high gloss surface - Owatrol

ESP is a colorless water-based primer , effective on all smooth surfaces, avoiding any tedious prior preparation such as sanding , roughening or stripping before finishing (paint, varnish, etc.).

Properties :

• Colorless, does not mask the structure of the support.
• Avoids all long and painful work of roughening, sanding and stripping on smooth and non-adherent surfaces such as tiles, PVC, glass, melamine, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, old lacquered, painted or varnished supports... before applying a finish .
• Does not attack the existing support or the old coating.
• Can be covered with any type of single-component finish (acrylic or glycero/alkyd): paints, lacquers, varnishes... after 2 hours and up to 7 days.
• Easy to apply and quick: apply with a cloth, brush.
• Scentless. Requires no rinsing.
• 18 m²/L per coat.
  Practical performance will vary with type, surface condition and absorbency as well as mode of application.

Substrate preparation:

The support must be dry, degreased, clean and sound. Its recognition and preparation are the responsibility of the applicator.
The old finishes to be covered must be stable (not peeling or flaking).

Application :

1. Apply a generous coat of ESP to the clean substrate.
2. Leave to act for 5 minutes then gently wipe the surface with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth, the aim being to leave a very thin film on the surface.
3. Wait 2 hours (temperature at +20°C and relative humidity at 50%) before applying the new finish.
4. The ESP is recoverable within a maximum of 7 days.
5. Beyond these 7 days, it will be necessary to redo a new application of ESP

Recommendation after application:

• If the new finish cracks or breaks down on application, the substrate is not clean enough.
  It is therefore necessary to remove the ESP before it dries, clean the support again with water or detergent and rinse.
• Then let the substrate dry for several hours. On a very dry support, repeat the treatment with ESP
  Although dry to the touch, a film of paint, varnish, etc. remains soft for up to 30 days after application and cannot withstand scratches during this period.
  This phenomenon occurs whether the ESP is used or not.
• NB: do not throw rags soaked in ESP directly into a bin, let them dry flat in the open air beforehand.
