Sika Primer-215 is a colorless, slightly yellowish, solvent-based primer that reacts to atmospheric moisture and forms a thin layer.
This layer acts as a bridge between the substrate and the adhesive.
Sika Primer-215 is specially formulated for surface treatment prior to the application of Sika single-component polyurethanes.

• Sika Primer-215 is suitable for a wide range of plastics (such as GVK, epoxy, PVC, ABS) and wood.
  Due to the diversity of synthetic materials, it is always necessary to carry out tests on the original substrates while observing local production conditions.

Application

1. Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dust and other contaminants.
2. Adhesion can be improved by applying and/or combining a pretreatment, such as: sanding, cleaning and activating before applying the primer.
3. Apply a thin but well-covering coat of Sika Primer-215 with a brush, felt-tip pen or foam applicator.
   The ideal application temperature for the product and surface is between 15°C and 25°C.
4. Apply Sika Primer-215 in one coat.
5. Ensure that this layer provides good coverage.
6. Close the bottle carefully immediately after use.

Approximately 50 gr/m² depending on the porosity of the substrate.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Sika Primer-215 mandatory before using Sikaflex sealant?
   No, not always. On some surfaces, adhesion is sufficient without a primer. However, on non-porous or difficult surfaces (plastics, lacquered metals, composites), the use of Primer-215 is strongly recommended to ensure long-lasting adhesion.
2. Can it be used on wood or concrete?
   Sika Primer-215 is primarily intended for non-porous substrates. For porous substrates such as wood or concrete, other Sika primers may be more suitable. It is advisable to check the technical data sheet or perform a preliminary test.
3. Does the primer remain visible after application?
   It is transparent with a slight yellowish tint, but when applied in a thin layer, it generally remains discreet and invisible after the sealant has been applied.
4. How long should you wait before applying the sealant?
   Approximately 30 minutes at room temperature. Time may vary depending on weather conditions (temperature and humidity).
5. Can a thick layer be applied to improve adhesion?
   No, you need to apply a thin, even layer. Too thick a layer can impair adhesion.
6. What is the shelf life after opening?
   The product is sensitive to humidity. Once opened, it must be tightly closed and used promptly. Prolonged storage may reduce its effectiveness.
7. Is it compatible with all types of glue?
   It is designed primarily for Sika polyurethane products. For other adhesives or sealants, check compatibility with the manufacturer.
