SikaMelt-009 - Cleaner for Hot Melt Adhesives - Sika

SikaMelt-009 is a cleaner for devices and accessories for applying reactive polyurethane-based hot melt adhesives.
It works by pushing back the glue and neutralizing the groups of isocyanates.

Application areas

• SikaMelt-009 allows repression and neutralization.
  Reactive groups in polyurethane hot melt glue interact with SikaMelt-009.
• This prevents further curing of the adhesive inside the application device.
  Please note: When the polyurethane-based reactive hot melt adhesive is fully cured, it can only be removed mechanically.
• This product is intended for experienced professional users only.

Application

1. In general, the application temperature is between 90°C and 150°C.
2. First, the device must be emptied.
3. Then SikaMelt-009 is pumped out of the device until there is only blue cleaner with no particles at the outlet.
4. When using the glue again, the blue cleaner must be completely expelled from the device (visible at the nozzles) by running the polyurethane-based reactive hot melt glue through the device.
5. Adhesion testing is recommended to determine the purity of the glue.
6. To obtain the properties necessary for cleaning the installation, the viscosity of SikaMelt-009 can be adjusted by modifying the application temperature.
