SikaShield - Self-adhesive bituminous waterproofing membrane - Sika

SikaShield E80 HDPE SA 1.5 mm is a bituminous, self-adhesive and fully adhered, post-applied waterproofing membrane which has a thickness of 1.5 mm.

It consists of a cross-laminated HDPE film which is coated with an SBS modified bituminous compound.
The underside has a removable sheet protecting the adhesive compound, for easy application.

Application areas

The product is used as a waterproofing membrane for:

• Basements and other underground structures
• Horizontal reinforced concrete slabs, screeds, pedestals and protrusions
• Vertical reinforced concrete walls
• Simple and strip foundations
• Extensions and renovations

Application

1. Be careful when unrolling to avoid damaging it. Use flat profile shoes when walking on the membrane.
2. When applying the membranes at temperatures below +5°C, use heating equipment to ensure that the substrate temperature is within the temperature range given in this data sheet.
3. When applying the membranes in damp or wet conditions, use heating equipment to ensure the substrate is dry before application
4. To prevent joints from overlapping, lay the membranes parallel to each other.
   The overlaps of the old underlying bitumen strips cannot coincide with the overlaps of SikaShield E80 HDPE SA 1.5 mm, to avoid a significant overthickness.
5. They should preferably be in the middle of the underlying layer.
   Unroll the membrane.
   Align the membrane.
   Roll up the membrane again before application.
6. Overlap the membranes a minimum of 100 mm on the sides and 150 mm on each end, or according to the supplier's specifications.
7. At the end lap, cut across the width of the 100mm overlap - one corner of the membrane at a 45° angle.
8. At one end of the sheet, peel off part of the protective film from the underside and stick this end to the substrate.
   Continue to peel the protective film laterally from the rest of the sheet membrane and adhere it to the substrate.
   Roll the entire surface of the applied membrane with a heavy roller to ensure that all air bubbles are removed.

Conditioning

SikaShield rolls are packed in individual cartons.
