SikaFlex AT-Connection - Universal sealant - Sika

Sikaflex AT-Connection is a single-component elastic sealant based on silane-terminated polymers, which hardens with humidity.
It is ideal for connection and expansion joints between porous and non-porous substrates and is ideal for indoor and outdoor use.

Application areas

Sikaflex AT Connection is developed for connection joints between porous and non-porous substrates such as around doors and/or windows and other construction elements.

Application

1. The support must be clean and dry, sound, homogeneous, free of oil, grease, dust and friable or loose particles.
2. Sikaflex AT-Connection adheres without the use of primers or activators.
3. However, for optimum adhesion and critical high performance applications such as working on multi-storey buildings, for high stress joints or where exposed to extreme weather conditions or temporary immersion in water, it is suitable to use the following primers and/or proceed with the following preparation procedures.

Non-porous substrates:

• Aluminum, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, PVC, galvanized steel, powder coated metals or enamelled tiles should be cleaned and pretreated with Sika Aktivator-205 using a clean cloth.
  Maintain an evaporation time of at least 15 minutes (maximum 6 hours) before applying the mastic.
• All other metal surfaces such as copper, brass and titanium zinc should be cleaned and pre-treated with Sika Aktivator-205 using a clean cloth.
  After an evaporation time of at least 15 minutes, apply a coat of Sika Primer-3 N using a brush.
  Maintain an evaporation time of at least 30 minutes (maximum 8 hours) before applying the mastic.

Porous substrates:

• On concrete, aerated concrete, cementing, mortars and bricks, apply Sika Primer-3 N with a brush.
  Maintain an evaporation time of at least 30 minutes (maximum 8 hours) before applying the mastic.

Important Note: Primers are adhesion enhancers.
They do not in any way replace careful cleaning of the support, nor do they significantly improve the cohesion of the support.

Consumption

The width of the joint should be consistent with the range of motion of the sealant.
As a general rule, the joint width should be > 10 mm and < 35 mm.
Observe a width to depth ratio of ~2:1.
