Sikafloor curehard-24 - Transparent surface hardener - Sika

Sikafloor CureHard-24 is a one-component , transparent , sodium silicate- based liquid with a high solids content, used for curing, surface hardening and sealing fresh or hardened concrete .

Areas of application

• On horizontal surfaces of new or old concrete, where a hard surface with light to moderate abrasion resistance is required, for example in warehouses, industrial buildings, shops, shopping centres, car parks, petrol stations, hangars, etc.
• On concrete slabs for situations requiring no efficiency or curing standards.
• Suitable for indoor or outdoor applications.
• Dust reducer for precast concrete elements.
• Suitable for protection against ingress (Principle 1, method 1.2 of EN 1505-9).
• Suitable for increasing physical resistance (Principle 5, method 5.2 of EN 1504-9)

Application

Fresh concrete

1. Apply in a continuous film using a high volume, low pressure gun, as soon as the surface is solid enough to walk on.
2. Apply enough to keep surface wet for at least 30 minutes.
3. After about 30-45 minutes the material begins to gel and becomes slippery.
4. Lightly spray the material with water to reduce slipperiness, and work the product into the surface by rubbing it with a soft brush or single-brush machine for 10 to 20 minutes.
5. After about 20 minutes the material will gel again.
6. Rinse the floor and remove any excess product using a squeegee, vacuum cleaner or mop.

Hardened concrete

1. Apply in a continuous film using a high volume, low pressure gun.
2. To ensure maximum penetration, work the product into the surface using a soft brush or single-brush machine for at least 30 minutes, until the material begins to gel and becomes slippery.
3. Lightly dampen the material by spraying with water and work the product into the surface again for an additional 10 to 20 minutes.
4. Then rinse the floor and remove any excess product using a squeegee, vacuum cleaner or mop.
5. A second coat may be necessary on porous concretes with a rough structure or which are finished by brushing.
6. For larger areas and higher application rates, mechanical equipment such as ride-on scrubber dryers can also be used to apply, penetrate or remove excess product.
7. Thanks to the progressive chemical reaction, the waterproofing rate increases gradually while the maximum sealing and surface hardening effect is achieved after 7 days at the earliest.
8. Surface gloss gradually increases over 30 to 90 days, depending on cleaning frequency.

Consumption

0.15 – 0.25 l/m²/coat (4 - 7 m²/l/coat).
These values are theoretical and do not include the additional material that may be required to compensate for surface porosity, substrate roughness, level and loss variations, etc.
