SikaCeram-250 StarFix is a deformable adhesive mortar for bonding tiles.
The product can be applied in layers up to 5 mm in thickness.

SikaCeram-250 StarFix is suitable for bonding all types of ceramic tiles on walls and floors, inside and outside , for residential and industrial surfaces, for heated floors , balconies and terraces.

Application areas

SikaCeram-250 StarFix is suitable for bonding the following types of tiles:

• Ceramic tiles
• Sandstone tiles
• Coarse ceramic
• Marble and other natural stones not susceptible to discoloration

SikaCeram-250 StarFix can be used on walls and floors indoors and outdoors, including on:

• Heated floors (hydraulic and electrical systems)
• Terraces
• balconies
• Old healthy ceramic tiles
• Plasterboard

Application

1. SikaCeram-250 StarFix is applied with a notched trowel.
2. The amount of product must be sufficient to completely coat the back side of the tiles.
3. Tile should be laid over freshly applied adhesive, applying adequate pressure to ensure full and even contact with the adhesive for optimum adhesion.
4. If a film forms on the surface of the glue, the layer of glue should be removed immediately with a trowel, discard this material and then apply a new layer of SikaCeram-250 StarFix glue.
5. Avoid application in direct sunlight and/or in strong winds / drafts.
6. SikaCeram-250 StarFix is suitable for laying absorbent and non-absorbent tiles indoors, without any limitations as to size or support.
7. SikaCeram-250 StarFix is ideal for laying non-absorbent tiles outdoors, up to 10000 cm2 (eg 60 x 120 cm) on the floor, and up to 7000 cm2 (eg 80 x 80 cm) on walls, on unheated cement-based substrates.
8. For laying tiles larger than 900 cm² (eg 30 x 30 cm), it is always recommended to apply the double-sided bonding technique (buttering).

Consumption

Consumption is a function of the surface profile and the roughness of the substrate, the size of the tiles and the laying technique (gluing on one side or double-sided).
As an indication, in kilograms of powder per m²:

• Small tiles/6 mm notched trowel ~ 2.1 kg/m²
• Normal tiles/notched trowel 8 mm ~ 2.6 kg/m²
• Large tiles/10 mm notched trowel ~ 3.1 kg/m²
